Rewiring MIC in MY16 GLS for MR Head Unit Conversion

Rewiring MIC in MY16 GLS for MR Head Unit Conversion

Postby Treeton on Tue Oct 04, 2022 6:05 pm

G'day all
I have a 2015 built MY16 GLS and I've managed to get my hands on a factory Kenwood unit out or a MR.
My current GLS CD /DAB head unit has only three plugs which fit the new unit plus one black plug wrapped up on the harness which doesn't seem to fit anywhere.
I will source a set of MR USB/HDMI cables from a wrecker and do the DAB antenna and GPS receiver from ebay which should sort these issues out.
Plugged in it all works except for the MIC.
Just have a few questions if anyone can help me out please.
1. Has anyone worked out what needs to be done to get the mic to work?
The D114 plug on the Handsfree unit i believe is where the mic is connected, is there any changes or rewiring to this plug needed to get the mic to work?
2. What goes into the 16 pin Grey plug in the back of the Kenwood unit? Is this Plug D241?
3. I've noticed the volume is pretty low on this unit compared to the old DAB unit is that normal?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Chris

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?
