2017 MQ Clutch shudder

Postby playfoot.gary on Tue Dec 13, 2022 4:37 pm

I have the problem of the clutch shuddering when trying to pull away from stationary with a loaded trailer approximately 2 tonne on the back. Need a MINIMUM of 1500 RPM to pull away without stalling as the little shetland ponies are not up to it.
50,000km on the clock and no problems unladen but a loaded trailer is certainly stretching the rubber band to the limits.
Any help please. No good asking dealer as they won't believe me...
Thanks for any and all help in advance.

Is the GCM within the limit? i.e. are you overweight?

My GCM is 5885kg
My GVM is 2900 kg
which leaves me with an ATM of nearly 3000 kg.
The trailer I was towing weighs around 1900kg which leaves me well within all my limits.
The one problem I have when pulling away is the high revs necessary so my car doesn't stall which causes the clutch to slip and it doesn't stop slipping until road speed increases and every other gear from 2nd to 5th or 6th is fine.
