Has anyone dropped a unifilter in their banger? I found the stock filter struggles with super fine dust here in Kalgoorlie

Be good if you could fit a cyclonic prefilter.

A number of tests I've read through have shown the paper filters are actually the best for trapping dust and providing consistent airflow.

So is the dust getting through the filter or around it?

I found that the rubber seal had not seated properly on a few occasions.

I just wiped a bit of engine oil or grease over the seal and never saw any further traces past it.

On one of my vehicles I've had one of the clamps that had distorted and didn't pull down on the cover fully.

Other things worth doing are, check a new filter before fitting - may have a manufacturing defect/damaged in transit.

I had a bush rat get in my air box once and the bugger had ripped off most of the poly layer a few years back - then decided to die wedged in behind the wiper motor - not a pretty event!

I just placed an order for one of these.... A ryco panel filter was $55 throwaway, whereas the UNIFILTER was $99 and washable.... no brainer really. I had one fitted to my Nk Pajero... found it to be excellent in all conditions that I used it in...

Cheers lads, I'm guessing some talc size dust is not terminal. Unifilter states 4micron. What's the paper stocky anyone know?
