Which oil??

Which oil??

Postby Zwagerman9 on Sun Sep 24, 2017 9:05 pm

Previously owning a D4D I was always keen to attend pre service oil changes at 5k intervals between mechanical services.

What are peoples thoughts on the 15k service intervals?

Does anyone attend routine oil changes at 5k, 7.5k?

Which oil do you prefer?

I have just attended a 10k oil change over prior to my 15k service. (Have drilled a sump plug access hole into my bash plates.)

Interested in peoples thoughts.

Thanks.

Have just carried out my first 5000km oil & filter change. 15000km oil changes seem like a long time between oil changes for me. Have always thought an oil change was cheap maintenance.
I used Penrite 5W-30 DL1. The local dealer uses a 5W-40, not sure of the brand. I used the 5W-30 cause that was in the owners manual but from the reading I have since done, it seems as if you could use the 5W-40 without any dramas.

I have been using DL-1 for ages in all my MQs, but recently I have noticed that the preferred oil has now changed from DL-1 to Enviro C3 on Penrite website.Got a few drums from supercheap as they had them from $130 for 20L. Normally they go for about $230..bargain of the century..

Thanks for all the responses. I went nulon 5-30 full synthetic (c3) because it was on sale at the time and recommended by the oil finder. Interesting that my wife's 4n14 outlander recommends c4.

I think I will commence 5k service intervals. I do agree with the idea of cheap insurance.
