Mq with 275 65 17 tyres

Postby Sandstorm76 on Sat Feb 27, 2016 6:25 pm

Anyone tried 275 65 17 size tyres on the MQ. Any rubbing? Gonna put a lift in soon and thinking of swapping my Bridgestone 697 in 265 65 17 to the bigger size. Thoughts anyone? Thanks

I run that size although 16" (275/70/16) with no lift on the mn and not even close to rubbing

Ok. That's good to hear. I am interested to see if anyone has them on the MQ. I think the tyres I have on now will look a bit small after a suspension lift. The 275s would likely suit better and give a little more clearance.

Moved topic to correct forum.

A couple of members have recently moved to this size in MNs. I'll let them chime in with their own comments but my own observation is that it's a huge price premium to pay over the 265s for a tyre that is virtually the same size.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

Main reason I went 275/70 over 265/75 was to keep within the WA 50mm diameter increase. Also they were cheaper than 265's at the time

Might keep the 265 Deulers now. Still bit undecided. Might be a bit of a pointless change for such a small difference in diameter

Does the 275 stick out beyond the wheel arch on your vehicle? I reckon on the MQ it will be pretty tight.

Just ordered 265/70/17 for my Mq. Was mulling over 275' s or even 285's, suspension guy reckons it could have been achieved also without rubbing.
Looking forward to in install date.

I have the BFG 's 275/65 on my MQ and they look great, have lifted the vehicle with just changing the tyres and does not rub anywhere or impede.

Hey mate, do you have any pics of how they sit on the Mq. Also, are they the genuine rims?

Hi Tome,

How are the tyres? Do you have any rubbing now they are on? Presume you have not had suspension lift.

Cheers,

Can anyone confirm if 265/70/17's will fit on the MQ without a lift? I would be very surprised if there were issues with that size but would like to hear someone confirm it before I go ahead.

The local ARB have an MQ with that size on there but its had an inch lift so its hard to compare although from the looks of it I've got nothing to worry about.
There are two types of people in this world; those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.

I'm curious how the size increase has changed daily driving, I put 265 75 16 on my previous NP Paj and it slowed it down on take off a fair bit, any opinions would be great

Both those sizes (and 265/75R16 marginally 5mm too tall) are above the 50mm limit unfortunately. Under finance etc I don't think I'd want to risk going oversize.

275/70R16 seems to be the biggest you can go and keep it legal at 42mm over stock. I haven't seen a huge range of AT and MT tyres in this size though.

Will those 285 70 17 fit on standard mq with no lift.
Thinking of putting federal couragia 265 70 17 . But if the wider 285 will fit I will run them

Does anyone have any photos of this size? I'm considering this combination now given an apparent shortage of 245/75R17 and 255/70R17's in Australia.

I also have BFG AT 275/65/17 on my mq with a +20 offset Tuff T01 Black wheels. Looks great. Even the mrs was really happy with the look. I will try and post some pics tomorrow night.

i put 285 70 17 federal courigias on my 2016 gls. standard suspension and i had to trim the mud flap and inner guard a bit to stop rubbing. i wouldn't run this size unless you have a lift on it. and then again i would think twice. to get me by until i do a lift i'm going to have to put strut spacers on. and when there worn out im going back to 265 70 17. are well we live and learn.
cheers :(
