I've come over to the dark side the Pajero has moved on and now I'm the owner of a MQ GLS Triton manual

I'm keen to get some AT Tyres on it straight away just after opinions on sizes to fit standard 17 rims, on my NP I fitted General Grabbers AT2 but went for 265 75 16, this took the sting out of the car and I regretted it evetry time I had a quick take off at the lights, I spend 99% of my time on the Bitchumen

Any feed back would be great

Weighing up 265 65 17 or 265 70 17

if your staying on the bitchy then just leave the stock HT tyres on it as they should be better than an AT for grip and give a better ride the only reason to change would be for looks alone, why do you want AT tyres ? that's the question

Touring, go up to Robe once a year and this year will do high country in it. I had the grabbers on the Pajero they were great on and off road but I found that it slowed the car down heaps when I upped the size, was a manual also

There is a good chance that the stock tyres are not great to begin with which is often the case (have done zero research on the mq triton tyres so I could be wrong). So might as well trade them in for a better quality tyre that will last longer/ more puncture resistant etc. Also the ground clearance on the triton is not great so a little more from a slightly larger tyre would not hurt but at the expense of taller gearing and fuel consumption. I have a 2010 challenger and put BFG AT (275/65/17)on when I bought it new. Which it only about 14mm bigger then standard. Have 182,000 on the clock now and still have close to 10,000 left on the tyres (second set) so am really really happy with that. Grip etc has always seemed really good and yes I like the look of them to. When I get the new Triton I will probably get the same size which I think is around 40mm bigger then the stock triton tyres.
Just wish the gearing was not so tall. My challenger has spent 90% on bitumen but the other 10% is where I have fun etc so I like having the AT tyres. If you really do 99% bitumen work then maybe a quality HT would be better.
