GLS aftermarket wheels

Postby Steve_robinson on Fri Mar 13, 2020 5:38 pm

Hi all, I'm having issues trying to find aftermarket wheels to fit my 2019 GLS. I was hoping to fit 16" dynamics and 31's but that went down the toilet as the inside of calipers fouls the rim.
I went to my reliable tyre and wheel shop today and they told me there is NO steel wheel on the market that will fit.
What options do I have left.
Cheers.

I ordered a set of 16x8 steelies today, glx comes with 16’s and apparently the brakes are the same throughout the mq range.
I’ll let you know on Monday how it goes

So far so good, they sit good.
Haven’t driven too much but no rubbing so far and the sit in the guards nicely.

I have a set of Gecko 16 inch steel rims with mud tyres for my MQ GLS.
I can't recall for sure, but I think they were 8 inch wide with about a plus 30 offset.
There isn't a heap of clearance over the callipers but they don't hit them.
GLS MQ Triton, ARB Summit front, rear and side bars, Carryboy canopy and rack, Dobinson heavy duty suspension, Harrop rear E-locker, Drifta drawers and a few other bits and pieces.

Hi, I am looking for an answer on the same question.
So Steve_Robinson, did you try sunraysia's and they both rub?? Even 17"?

Just confirming for MR GLS owners, No steel rims will fit, as Steve mentioned. Only some 16"/17" alloys may fit. Trial and error basicly... or a friendly tyre shop.

Mitsubishi Pajero steel rims would fit but narrower offset

Could try prado factory steels (17” offset +30). If your set on steel rims

If they have the same brakes as the Pajero, there won’t be many options but the Pajero forum (or nft5) will have the info

There are a few brands of steel wheels that will fit but it's a case of trial and error unless you get a manufacturer like CSA or Speedy who make wheels specifically for Pajero, or Triton.

I have Prado style alloy wheels on my Pajero and they fit fine even with those massive front calipers. As said before, it's not the offset that is the issue, it's the shape of the dish on the back of the wheel which needs to be able to fit over the caliper.

Personally I wouldn't bother with steelies these days. Alloys are lighter, stronger and give better ride and handling, not to mention braking.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

Sorry to dig up this old thread, but I was wondering if anyone had any luck in more recent times getting aftermarket wheels for their MR GLS/GSR that were 16" or 17" and didn't foul the calipers?
Specifically, which Rims did you find and where did you get them? I had a chat with some guys at the 4x4 show and they had conflicting info.

i run steel rims 8inch 0 off set on MR since new with no problems added flares as they sit even with guards with 265/70/16 tyres
