Positive 35 offset with 8” rim?

Positive 35 offset with 8” rim?

Postby 2017Triton on Mon Nov 30, 2020 12:41 pm

Hi,

Most people appear to be running P20 offset and achieving fairly substantial poke/ borderline needing extended flares with 265/75-16 setup on a MQ.

I am more traditional and don’t want that ‘look’. Will an 8” rim with P35 offset be ok?

My standard rims are P38 but only 7”, they already have smaller diameter 265 rubber with no rub.

Essentially the overall rim will be 9.5 mm further inboard even though the centreline will move out by 3 mm.

I know I’m swimming against the tide with this one...

Cheers.

By my calculations you'd be moving the centreline of the wheel out by 3mm and then the outside of the rim by 12.5mm (25mm/2) for a total of 15.5mm.

Can't see a problem with that.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking more about the inboard side.

I’m looking at a wider rim with minimal offset change. Is it likely to scrub chassis or suspension/steering components at lock? Typically people fit wider rims with more offset that would counter this.

I guess the real world change is minimal so ‘hopefully’ not.

The width of the tyre tread is wider than the rim, wider rim slight change in sidewall bulge.

With after market UCA rim width might be a factor for clearance
