Superior Engineering extended shackles

Superior Engineering extended shackles

Postby 02-SR5 on Mon May 01, 2017 12:29 pm

I want to retain the factory rear springs and fit a set of extended (quality, not home made) extended shackles like the ones from Superior Engineering.

I had a set on a Hilux in the past and they were great. I got around a 30mm lift.

I have already replaced the rear shocks with a set of Bilstiens. My intent is to replace the front struts with King Springs and Bilstiens struts.

No bar work on this one. At the most, I'll fit a ECB nudge bar with a couple of spotties on the front.

You dont mention where you are but in nsw, and a lot of other states, they are illegal.

Legalities aside.
You dont mention the model of triton you have but the ML & MN's have a very flat OEM spring pack. The change of working geometry that extended shackles cause will increase the chance of spring pack inversion.
Something to be aware of

Pretty sure blocks & extended shackles are illegal.

The shackles would have to have about twice the extension of whatever height increase you want - would also add a lot of stress to the mounting points & bushes. Pic says it all for blocks.

If you don't want to replace springs, why not simply get reset at a spring works?
Don't let the b'strds get you down!!
