Soft Tonneau Installation

Soft Tonneau

Postby jim80h on Wed Nov 02, 2016 6:54 pm

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone has pictures of a soft tonneau fitted to their MQ. I am thinking of buying one, but just want to see how it looks. Am very interested to see how it fits at the cab end.

While I get why that post might get your back up, if you click his link and then on the results pages click the link for images only you will soon see a lot of photos of flush fit tonneaus on mq tritons.

Yes you do, but none of them show the fitting at the cabin end. I was wondering because of the height difference between the sides and end of the tub.

Pretty sure there is an aluminium extrusion that gets riveted to the front of the tub so that the mounting point for the tonneau is flush with the sides of the tub

Edit - you can see it in this picture quite clearly

Soft Tonneau Installation

Postby Queno75 on Thu Mar 02, 2017 2:50 pm

Hi
I am new to this forum and chasing a bit of advise. I have purchased a genuine MQ Soft Tonneau (second hand) and I cant seem to find anywhere the fitting instructions. attempts to get one from a dealer have so far not been successful. Does anyone have a copy they can send me or point me in the right direction.

Many thanks

Do you have a sports bar as I have the instructions for that model only?

Are the genuine covers worth it?
See there are lot of aftermarket ones.

If you have a Sportsbar you have no choice it's Mitsubishi or Mitsubishi, but they are very well made.

If I am planning on getting the tub speed lined, do i do this before or after the tonneau cover install?

I fitted my cover after getting the Rhino lining done.

My lining is all below the lip and the cover rail is on the lip so they're not co-existing in the same spot.

Is $200 for a used clip on soft tonneau a good price?
Does anyone have instructions they can send me please.

Hi, new to forum. I've a 17 triton with a Mitsubishi tub liner. Just bought a tonneau off ute cover direct and I'm finding that the rail near back window does not fit. Is this normal for 17s? They said it would.

If it's a GLS or Excede, you have to go genuine.

Did you buy the tonneau cover for the model with the headboard? You probably did because i have only ever found one supplier that sells the one without the headboard and I'm pretty sure ute covers direct is not them. There are 3 different types, ones with the sports bar, ones with the headboard and ones without headboard. I have found a place that sells semi hard covers that fold which are surrounded by a frame and they are about $220.

My Tuff Tonneau cover just arrived and i was thinking the same thing. The instructions show the angles sitting up against the sports bar at the front, but for the life of me i couldn't work out how due to the height difference. Lucky i still have time to figure that out as they didn't send the fixings with the cover.
