Engine oil from factory

Hi, does anyone know if they use a mineral or synthitec oil on the MQ from factory?

Doesn't really matter, does it!

Run it at least to 5k to let seals, etc bed in and then change to your preferred oil .

Or just follow the intervals in the service schedule.

All oils, fuels and engines, etc have improved heaps.

I had an interesting experience with my vc commodore years ago where it developed a leak out the front crank seal. In those days they used to change the oil at the first inspection as had been done for years.

The upshot was that the oils were already that much better and the seals didn't bed in. Can't remember if seal got replaced or settled in during time to next service.

With the VH I got next, no oil got changed on that first inspection and it never leaked a drop in the 70k I had it.

If you are keen to dump it, I'd hang out to at least 3 to 5k.

All the vehicles I've had over the last 30+ years haven't had oil changes until the first major service, eg 10 or 15k.
My Vito didn't get its first change until 22.5k.

If your vehicle is fairly new, deactivate the EGR within the first 5k and your engine will thank you.

The EGR recirculation seems to be the big contaminater of the oil.

Oh yes, I installed the munji cable as soon as we got it home with 29km on it, along with a catch can.

I recently installed a munji egr cable too, a bit concern the long term 7x24 use of this cable, especially the dpf life. How long have you installed the cable and any issues mate?

Thanks.

We seem to have diverges from oil type to EGR dearest.

I don't have a dpf so can't comment directly. The 2.4 is a totally different beast to previous engines.

With these it may be better to just go the catch can, set up with no restriction to the crankcase ventilation.

It would depend on what stats the ECU uses to decide on a dpf clean. Dobby might be the Oracle to consult here.

Hi dude, how's going with the munji cable so far? I`ve isntalled mine on my 20000km, now it's 30000km already, very solid upgrade, however a bit worried any damage to the engine, any experience? Thanks.
