fuel filter change.

Trying to change fuel filter. What's the secret to unscrewing the cap on the filter casing. ( yes I'm turning it in the right direction as per the arrow on the cap). Have changed this type of filter before on different brands, but this thing seem like it's glued on. There's a small amount of movement but it won't undo. HHEEELLLPPPP!!! Thought of using a strap type filter wrench but that gives a point pressure on the casing as it tightens the strap and would crack the casing.

some times the hold down bracket at the back can jam the locking ring. Its held by a 12mm bolt. Undo that and try again or you can remove the filter from the car entirely

It is always very hard to open it at its first time, make sure get it lub with some rubber grease after your first open, then next time it will be much easier.

Dont use rubber grease on fuel system components. The only lube you would put on the seals would be diesel fuel itself. No contaminates in that. Just dip the o ring in fuel and wipe around the seal on the filter with a diesel covered finger. Any rubber grease in the system could find its way into the fuel pump or injectors
