oil filter brand

Will using a Ryco oil filter void warranty. Without pulling bash guard off again, I can only say it is the one recommended for the 2.4l engine by Ryco. Just had another look. It was a Z456 from the Ryco list.
Thanks

What do mean by it fails, the filter or the engine? No idea on price, just I always buy my stuff from Supercheap and I have a few issues with the car. Long story dating back to when I first bought it , may tell it some day if the forum rules allow it or tell you privately if they don't.

Oil filter failure is likely to contribute to engine failure. For the few extra bucks I Always get the genuine filter for all my personal customers.

so how do you know if the oil filter failed ? Does the warranty refusal affect the whole engine and attachments or just those parts lubricated by the oil that passes through the filter?
Sorry to carry on about this, but any advice appreciated.

$32 for a genuine oil filter! Bargain, was usually quoted around $47 for my ml.

1. Vehicle manufactures don't make filters.
2. Filter manufacturers produce units to a required spec.
3. Consumer Law allows you to use any equivalent part.

I've cut open a sample of each filter that I've used, all identical inside.

Some things I look at with filters is the O ring and how it's retained. Ryco lost me here.

Funnily enough, a "genuine" filter for our Zuk costs less than a Ryco.
Don't let the b'strds get you down!!

While my vehicles are under warranty I stick the the genuine filters.
Both Mitsubishi and Subaru, it just save any grief should any thing go wrong.
Mitsubishi oil filter cost $26.50 and the subaru $18 which is cheaper than Ryco.
So when i do a mid service oil change they're (mitsubishi ) non the wiser.

Done some research and just at this stage it appears it is permissable to use an aftermarket filter of equivalent quality and warranty still stands. If the engine fails it is up to Mitsubishi to prove the filter was the cause of the failure. Will keep doing a bit more research.
Thanks
