Considering Toyota is pulling the 70 Series in the not to distant future it might be a case of get one now or miss out.

By the time you load it up with accessories you'd be nudging into the 90k mark, if not higher

Nice but not for me ;)

I know of people who have bought the 76series GXL ($75,000) and then dropped another $25k into them to get the vehicle to their standard of touring. For that money, they could have done the same to a base model 200 Series (GX) and ended up with a much nicer riding vehicle with more power and torque.

I wouldn't be surprised if the dual-cab ute second hand market is about to be flooded with Hiluxs, Navaras and Tritons as people "upgrade" to this new dual-cab.

See the build up of my old Triton here.

I thought that this was only in overseas markets as the Australian market for these is the strongest in the world due to our mining, goverment and defence usage of the 70 Series.

But, I may be wrong... :)

I think if I was to get one of these (Note: Winning the Lotto would need to happen first), it would still be the single cab... I think the Dual Cab is starting to push into the ugly area, it just looks to sqaure and extended.

Its been discussed a fair bit on NewHilux.net. Mines (BHP, but Rio will probably follow suit, if they havent already) are dumping them apperently as they dont have a 5star safety rating and Toyota cant be bothered trying to get them up to the standard required. Apperently hoping the new HiLux fills the void.

The Australian market is actually quite small compared to the rest of the world. The Middle East buys more 70 and 200 series landcruisers than anyone else. I believe Toyota is dropping the Australian V8 version and just continuing with the 6 cylinder overseas which is more reliable and cheaper.

I love our 76 Series but I think we will be tempted into trade it in on the dual cab ;)

the hilux and prado fail to fill the void left by the 105 series cruiser

they are seriously soft, the base prado now has traction control and when driven beeps and brakes and is really annoying.

bloody safety will be the ruin of all vehicles- driving will be dumbed down to save ourselves

If the GXL is 68k- I won't be wishing for one- I'll be down at the local Toyota shop tomorrow laying my hard earned- with the twin diff lock box ticked.

that has to be the bargin of the century- Toyota must be a bit concerned about the dual cab offerings out there to be doing this price :o

remember most mining companies pay a whole lot less than this price, and so do fleet buyers.

discount for ABN about 5k and GST another 6k

getting down into the no luxury tax bracket.

need to talk to the lease company

not 100% but the wife is thinking about a larger van (bushtracker) for a round australia trip in 2014 work be damned, that means a larger tow vehicle than the triton- although I have to talk to bush tracker about a hybrid version that is 2500kg.

still I'm worried about the busted chassis doing what I want to do and carry what I want to carry

need to be realistic, and the triton cannot do it all- however attached I am, and however much money I spend. :|

we would have probly 200 cruiser dual cabs at work (Iron ore mining company in the Pilbara region of WA) which are all cut down wagons I think made by Laingley conversions. The old dual cabs we have which are still the 4.2L non turbo'd ones have way more room in them over the new V8 dual cabs we have. The new V8 ones are real top heavy too feel very unsettled on windy days.

Love the V8 motor though it id thirsty when you drive it like a work car.
