my guess is Toyota want to capitalise on whats already out there now I heard a story the dual cab utes we have cost 120k in the cut down/dual cab form which like I said they are all we have onsite.

We have some dual cab Hilux's but mainly a couple of years old and they are all being replaced with cruisers either single cabs or dual cab conversions and management are all in Prado's

I drive a 150 prado- and it is shit in the mining conditions, very nice mind you with rear air conditioning etc.

I had a 105 series cruiser before the triton- loved that car  , but no power or comforts for the kids.

dual cab GXL cruiser might come close but at a price. Won't see me in a MN trying to tow 3 tonne across the Plenty HWY or the Gib River (sorry MMA)

MMA you have your target set regarding the update "new triton" just see what the competition is delivering.
Hope you can exceed........

NW pajero comfort and engine- ML triton length - or build the chassis to take the punishment of longer/ larger body tray. 5 star rating. you don;t have too much to do to catch up- but what are they to do to exceed......

If I had the money to buy one of those I'd get a better boat.

I saw one on the back of a flatbed tow truck going up the M1 to Brissy a couple weeks ago... wondered if it was a test vehicle or more to the point hoping!

called into the stealers the other day and was quoted 77,500 for the base model and an extra 3,500 for the GXL, got me that air con is an option, also does not attract luxrury car tax as it is classed as a military spec vehicle. They are due to get one in by the end of september....
Or as Speedy Gonzalez once said, it won't hurt, did it

i like them. could i afford one? never! 70k for gxl. factory diff locks are standard on gxl and i think they are about 3k more expensive than a base with diff locks so you might as well get the gxl. my dad has a single cab with a 3" exhaust and its a awesome note it makes for a diesel!
and yeah might not be the best looking cars but i think they look better than the defender 130 that its marketed against! and a lot more powerful too!

guess i'll be waiting on the second hand market for 10 years!

went in and had a look at one in the flesh on friday
small back seat area.

thinking I will keep the triton though and save some money- maybe in a few years

aweful tempting though as I'm driving a single cab around site today- hauling 600lts of fuel through sand, engine/ induction noise is oh so cool.....

way smaller than the triton and very upright in the backrest

was a selling/ buying point when I got the triton 4 years ago and the kids have only grown since then.

lucky for me I'm a short arse- so the kids get some room- this cruiser will not suit taller family

Well I called up Toyota and was told $70 to $90k was the model price range. PLUS on-roads.
We sat down and decided that by the time you fit the things you need to this thing, to do it properly, (bullbar, brush bars, winch, tyres, suspension, Cruise Control, canopy or tray, AIR EFFIN CON, UHF, towbar etc etc) the base model is looking more like $90K.
YES THATS $90 effing THOUSAND DOLLARS

IMHO if you want to spend $90K on a ute you need your head red. Thats a deposit on a house FFS.
Or an investment property.
Thats almost 2 brand new Tritons.
If your serious sit down, have a think, do you figures, do them again and yep, do em again.
Talk to your accountant.

NINETY THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR A UTE WITH LINO FLOORING AND AN FM RADIO. Nah mate. Thats stupid.

I can understand mines or commercial reasons but for Joe Blow the weekend warrior you gotta be rich as F--- or stupid as F---.
Thats my opinion.
Mod talk:
Sometimes indecipherable to the average Civillian. Example:
Homer:
I clearly remember Joe stating categorically that he prefers it in the bottom
Joe:
I didn't say it was better in the bottom, I just said it was easier and quicker.

$90K = second hand F250 or Silverado.

Serious tow vehicles with enough grunt to drag a huge load along at the speed limit. When you are talking that class why wouldn't you spend $100K on a Cruiser.

You also have to take into account that these are not in the same market as the dual cab ute, they are pitched at the mines, the rural fire brigades, and the armed forces, none of which pay stamp duty, import duty, or any other tax to speak of and if they do happen to pay any sort of tax then their accountants write the tax off.

Now the $90K comes down to a more reasonable $50K ish just by avoiding this rip off government we have.

So anyone that wants one I suggest you get a job where they are happy to let you have one as a company car.
