SPV Industries offline

Postby Cowboy Dave on Mon Feb 13, 2017 9:33 am

Many forum members will know of SPV Industries - aka Tony - on the forum.

They manufacture the EGR mods for our cars and sell a variety of performance enhancements.

They're also farmers, and their farm is in the path of the bushfire the RFS are calling the Sir Ivan fire. It hasn't (and hopefully won't) reach them yet but that fire and probably others have wiped out more than 40,000ha of land and 400+ electricity poles.

As a result they will be offline for some time. No email, no electricity and of course no product shipping.

You'd think their EGR business would be the last of their worries at the moment, what with fridges full of food going off, stock to protect, fires to fight etc but nevertheless they've found a way to contact me, and asked that I communicate to customers that they won't be fulfilling orders or communicating for a while.

So that's the purpose of this thread.

I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing Tony, Libby and family well and hoping things turn out okay in the end.

I seriously don't know how Tony finds the time. I have seen him in action.
Undiagnosed ADHD probably.

Hope it doesn't get that far.
Best wishes Tony, Libby, your parents and all the sheep. Hopefully the girls are off at school.

Good luck to them and all graziers and property owners affected.

What about the cows?

Yeah the girls are safe in Sydney (well at least as safe as one can be in Sydney).

Wow. I hope they get back on their feet without too much of a struggle. It's a tough living when you work the land.

As if the lightning strike last year wasn't enough of a headache hey. Our poor farmers do cop the short end of the stock all too often. Best of luck Tony getting back to normality asap.

i was driving back from taree on the weekend and saw a lot of brigades heading up that direction, fingers crossed they have the man power to get control of the fire.

Thoughts go out to Tony and the family, along with everyone else in the region. Good luck guys

Just saw on the news that one of the fires was lit by an ex-firefighter, so that his little girl could see "firetrucks in action". People like this should be locked up for life.

statistically a lot of arsonists are in the emergency fire services.

an RFS captain told me last week all new RFS recruits must provide their mobile number and they are all monitored for locations in event of fires and you are in the vicinity.

anyone on here recently singed up to RFS who can add to this?

Yes it's something I've been aware of too. It's a shame, but anytime I see these fires I wonder which RFS or ex RFS person lit it.
Makes sense that someone with an unhealthy infatuation with something gravitates to a position to be close to it...in many instances....

If you ever see one of these 'cowardly defects' lighting a fire, get a picture or even better a video clip of them doing it and then run over them!

We had a creep, lower than shark shit, light a horse paddock down the road on the weekend after the big Churchill fire, that took 11 lives!

Hopefully Tony & family come out the other end OK.

Tony and family are well and fine but they have all been assisting neighbours and also stricken families in need.
When he has the time he will be here to say thanks.

Still offline today after an NBN snafu. Some bright spark out in the bush (or Cantberra) decided it would be a good idea to turn off the existing satellite that many farmers use to obtain their internet in order to force people over to the NBN satellite launched more recently. Problem is they weren't real good at telling the users of the old satellite about the impending disconnection. And then it's near impossible to get the tech blokes to actually come out and install the gear on time.

Anyway they're alive and safe but down some equipment having lent it to others to repair burned out fences down the road. Otherwise it is just the ordinary (but significant) daily struggles of being an Aussie farmer. I need to sleep for days after every visit, it's a tiring operation just being there.

Reassuring isn't it? Same people who recently said Australia doesn't actually need high speed internet. Um yeah, but that's why you exist so if you could get on with providing it anyway please?

Is spv industries the guys who makes the wiring loom that tricks the egr to stay closed... i had a look on their website but can't find it... maybe I was dreaming last time. I just remember reading that this wiring loom that goes between the switch etc is one of the only ones that works if you don't want to put the blanking plate in...
