Hey all, i'm Julian and i live in Hervey Bay. I found this site last night and just had to join. We have owned our Triton GLX-R for about 5 months now and absolutly love it. We had been away with friends for a weekend who both had NEW TRITONS, Adam who is on here with his Cyber Blue VR with 33's and black sunrasias and his brother inlaw with a silver GLX-R. We were so impressed we had ours 2 weeks later. Since then i have added quite a few extras that you can see in THE SHED. Any ways i hope to chat to some of you here in the future.

I have large sheets of self adhesive tar mats about 3mm thick on hand in my smash repair shop. You could get the same from any high end car audio retailers. The just trim to size and stick to the inner door skin (easy with a brand new car)

And how do they perform ? Do they make much of a difference? What would be the approximate cost ?

there is no comparison. without it it sounds like an empty tin can. try tapping your door skin. should only cost around 100 to 200 dollars and about 2 hours of time

Welcome boosted. New memebers and new things to learn!
This insulation material, is this to stop outside noise getting in? Or to improve factory sound system? Or does it acheive both? It's 3 mm thick and is it litteraly like road bitumen, or like insulation foam?

Where else can you stick it apart from the doors, as the loudest source of noise is the engine on long trips (diesel).

It is to stop outside noise and to improve the audio and yes is is a bitumen mastic sheet with a highly adhesive surface on one side. It would mainly be used on inside panels, ie. floors, doors roof skins. Cut it to the desired shape with scissors or tin snips, place it on the sun to get it nice and hot, peel off the backing paper to reveal the adhesive surface and press it into place. You can also use a hair dryer or heat gun to help out.
