Newbie from Perth

Postby 98kellrs on Thu Mar 30, 2017 4:27 pm

Hi All,

Perth-based newbie here. Just traded my commodore ute and hatchback for a '14 MN GLXR in dark grey w/ 45,000km & will be my first Mitsubishi.

Got my first bub on the way so will be doing lots of reading up to try and make it a nice family tourer for mild offroad duties.

On the list:

Canopy - still reading through the 50+ pages of the canopy thread and close to a decision I think..
Recovery points - lots of sand dunes here and also wind so expecting to get bogged often!
Tyre gauge and compressor - I'm thinking portable at first then look at wiring one in if it sees lots of use.
Roof rack - Mainly for an awning and light carrying duties.

Don't pick it up until Thurs next week, but will post pics when I do!

Welcome along.

I'd put bash plates on that list way ahead of recovery points (which you already have a set of from the factory anyway. Sand is just as capable of destroying the factory protection plates as rocks and there's lots of stuff under there that you don't want damaged.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

Cheers lads, any recommendations on brands and thicknesses? I've seen them ranging from 2mm to 5mm??

Also what areas do you recommend protecting first?

Thanks! My searching skills are sub-par, but I'll stick at it and have a good look around. Cheers
