New to the Triton Family

Postby Bluesmartyboy on Sun Jul 29, 2018 5:37 pm

Hi All,

Bluesmartyboy (BSB) here from Tarneit, Victoria.

Married with 3 growing / kids.

Work as a reliability manager in mining.

Soon to have a brand spanking new 2018 Titanium GLS Dual Cab Manual sitting on the drive.

Will be starting to trick it up as soon as the ministry of finance gives me the nod.

As standard from the factory although have opted for tint windows, tub liner, powder coated black nudge bar and sports bar plus the OEM tonnau cover.

Priorities are:

Catch Can - Will self fit
Snorkel - Will self fit.
Light bar - Will self fit
Tyres.......Recommendations welcome!
Black Duck seat covers
2 stage fuel filtration.

Looking forward to putting up some pictures and chatting.

Welcome mate. Im also a new boy about town.
Should have my new GLS tomorrow or Tuesday (Rhino lining application dude dependant).
Already ordered a Provent 200 (just catch can, couldn't justify the $300+ for the hoses etc), kings awning and a compressor.
Picked up a TJM Airtec snorkel yesterday. Will fit that asap.

Super pumped to get on the road...

What colour you go for?

I ordered BFG K02 265/70/17 as a dealer option changeover. Wanted steelies but decided to keep the factory wheels and upgrade the tyres. $1000 All up for the 5 tyre changeover...

Went for the titanium gray. Think i may enquire about the tyre upgrade tomorrow.

Sounds like a good idea.....

How much was the Catch Can? was it an eBay purchase and have you had any thoughts about an EGR blocking plate?

I'm surprised a dealer fitted that size tyre as a 'dealer option'.
It's 53mm larger than the standard factory supplied tyre, and therefore not roadworthy.
GLS MQ Triton, ARB Summit front, rear and side bars, Carryboy canopy and rack, Dobinson heavy duty suspension, Harrop rear E-locker, Drifta drawers and a few other bits and pieces.

I didn't know the rules were different in NSW. I wish the regs in Vic were the same. I'd love to put 265/75r16 in the KM3s on my rig, but I'm not game to in case I have a prang and the insurance company could reject the claim.

Hi all I do not have a Triton but am avidly looking for one, also new to forums in general so forgive me if I am unsure of correct conventions please. Im looking for a Triton under $20,000 so if you have any for sale or know someone who does please let me know. Would also love any advice anyone has to offer for a total newb, apparently, that's an insult according to my kids. I'm located in Newcastle NSW and looking to get out and about with the kids, beach bush camping etc.
Cheers Doug

I'm so sorry to be hounding everyone about this so MANY years after these threads were written, but I have searched the forums and I really was hoping you guys would be able to clear things up for me.

I have an MN Triton
I want
1. to go as big as I can
2. on the stock rims
3. with All Terrains
4. Stay legal (NSW)
5. no lift

Stock tyre is 245/70R16 - It looks Sooo wrong on the Triton to have this size (small) tyre and I can't believe I have put up with them for so long.

After reading much of this forum, I believe I can go for 265/75R16.

Q1. I am assuming the 265/75R16 will go onto the stock rims.
Q2. I am assuming the 265/75R16 will not rub stock body/guards etc
Q3. I am assuming this change is legal in NSW?

Q4. The posts above are fantastic and one of them was quoting something like 7% allowed in NSW. The link I found seems to be version 09 of the document above and I can't seem to work out if that percentage limit is a thing anymore. The regs seem to be more concerned with wheel track and offset and if I am using the stock rims, my guess is that none of that changes right?
