G'day people,
New to this site and to owning a 4wd. Pondered for a while on a SR5 Hilux but found them to be over exposed and over priced, didnt care much to look at anything else other than the Triton, so here i am.

Been reading through the site and it seems really informative and interesting.

Got a list of things to do to like suspension lift, winchbar, canopy, roller drawers and the list goes on. I have looked at a Razorback canopy so any feedback would be good, and any others would be usefull.

Putting a set of ROH Trojan 16x7 with 265x75 cooper sts on next weekbut was wondering about road noise?

Living in Wa and not being experienced i am doing a Ureka 4wd course and was wondering if anyone has done one and what were their thoughts?

Site looks good hope to learn alot.

Cheers

Welcome mate hope you enjoy it around here ;)
Also why are you going for 7" rims and not 8's if you're going to the expense of buying new :?: :?:

Welcome dadstoy (wow that sounded weird saying that :))

As sam said 8's will down the track give your more options, I wish I had 8"s.

Mate go the 8's at least that way if you ever decide to go bigger you can, and 265/75's go very nicely on 8's ;)

I've got 16x8 Trojons on our ute with 265's and I'm glad people talked me outa 7's :D

Pemberton and around that area is great fun for sand /beach driving ,Collie is good for bush stuff and north of Perth there's Lancelin etc.

Welcome to the site!

The Tritons are top vehicles, I'd recommend one anyday, I do own an 06 Hilux SR5 but recommend them also - not so much for their price, each to their own... both top vehicles!

Eureka 4WD Training are one of the best in Perth, they run very good training courses.

Another thing you could do is join a local 4x4 club in your area, the WA 4WD Association has a list of 4WD clubs and they don't mind beginners, you can learn heaps for very little cost compared to a proper course.

Cheers,
Dave

Welcome mate...

I have the Razorback and I love it...
Only thing I don't like is having to use a seperate key to unlock it but I am in the process of adding a central locking actuator to the lock so I can open it off the fob...

Hi & welcome DT,
I found the powerline track good for learning on the group trip we did a while back. Or there are some good dune tracks just north of two rocks (back access from Wilibinga rd is a navigational challenge if you've not done it before). Perhaps we should do another powerline trip?

Hi Smeghead,
Why dont you get the rear lock keyed alike to the front by a locksmith, cost about $60 -$80. Thats Perth prices though.
Also what did your canopy set you back? Have seen varying prices on the site and have had a price of $3300 fitted but think that might be a bit over the top. (from TJM)

Then I would still have to use a key!
I would rather be exceptionally lazy and just press the fob button.

I paid $2800 fitted...
