Soon to be Triton owner

Postby thegrantmob on Wed Apr 01, 2009 9:25 am

Love the website, found it very useful in researching the triton. We have had an 05 Pajero for a while and the time has come for a change. In the nexty month we hope to purchase a new triton set up for long distance touring. This is the list of extras I have asked a couple of dealers to Quote me for.
Triton GLX-R Duel Cab, diesel, 5 Speed manuel, Silver in colour. We are after the following Accessories:
- Bonnet & Headlight protectors
- Rear Protection Bars.
- Tow Bar Package.
- Dust seal Kit
- Rear Diff locker
- Rubber mats
- 5 x Cooper ST tyres.
- Lambs wool seat covers front & rear.

I have a list of non factory extras based on opposite locks website as follows:

- Duel Battery system (Capable of running Weaco 35 fridge ,Lights & switchable for emergency start in case of flat main battery)
- Lightforce 240 Twin Pack (LF240T)
- 1 Rear work light (Possibly a fluoro) fitted on inside of hard tonneau Cover.
- GME TX3400 Rem UHF + Antenna
- Roller Ute Slide (RD12)
- Weaco CDF35 Fridge (Fitted to Ute Slide).
- 40L Polly Water tank with hose and tap(WPT40J);Rackmaster Double Jerry Can Holder (Item: RMZJCD), Fitted to Ute Slide.
- Rackmaster Gas Bottle holder (RMAGB250) fitted to Ute slide.
- Custom mount for Maxtrax (See attached Plan)
- 2 x Custom Storage Bins for Ute tray (Simple strong design for storage of recovery Gear including Turfer hand winch & Cable)
- 120L Long Range Fuel Tank (suitable for use with factory rear Locker)
- Fitted air compressor with hose and fittings (Fitted in custom Storage bin if able).
- Rhino Sports (RRRST) rack and 4 x rhino sportz eyenuts (to Put Canoe on roof)
- Bedouin HD Canvas Awning (RT75) with mounts to fit on the inside top of hard tonneau Cover.
- Snorkel to suit Triton.
- Hema Navigator GPS.
- Fire Extinguisher (Fitted in ute tray)

If it all comes together we will have an awsome remote area tourer. Have stuck with stock suspension based on my expirience with the Pajero (Traveled all over Austalia and never missed a beat). The nuge bar on the GLX-R is substancial enough for starters although a real bar may follow down the track. I have a play truck (SWB Patrol) for the hard core stuff  , the triton is for the simpson, the cape, the kimberly, ect. Long days over rough roads, with a long way between us and civilisation. We are planning to couple it with a Bayside campertailer later in the year.

Look forward to posting photos when it all comes together. :D

Welcome thegrantmob. Holy moly, now that is a list!

Look forward to the pics!

The stock Triton suspension is no where near Pajero standard (I have one of them too). It is the single weak point in the vehicle.
I hate to advocate drugs, sex, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.

G'day Grantmob,

Welcome to the forum. Agree about the suspension. Its the one weak point in the car. Rears are squeaky as hell and will sag quickly with all your planned mods. The OEM shockies are a pathetic excuse for inclusion in a new vehicles setup.

The rear also skip around dangerously on potholed roads. It wont take you long to replace thats for sure !

Other than that - brilliant car.

Stock shockies are RUBBISH  bordering on dangerous on outback corrugated roads
