Hey Guys,

New member, just bought my first Triton today and get it on Friday hopefully :D Its just a glx diesel manual, that i am going to chuck some rims and tyres on, bullbar, scrub bars and sidesteps.....for now.

Mainy road use with weekend use of sand to dirt tracks nothing extreme, what would be good tyres for this that are a bit bigger and look the part?

Bloody good forum you guys have going here.

Thanks

This car is like a bad drug habit. It is taking all my money and time, my family are concerned, but new mods just feel sooooooo good.

Took it down the beach (dogs wanted to go for a run) and surprise surprise with the stock GLX wheels it was crap in the sand haha.

Will put some pics up on the weekend but im sure youve all seen one before.

Mods will start soon ;)

Hey Reinoh, I've found that pressure makes HEAPS more difference than tyre width on the beach...sometimes I even think the skinny's go better....but they look like sh$t.
Larger tyre diameter makes more difference than width because as you let air out of the tyre, the footprint gets longer rather than wider. The larger diameter the tyre, the longer your footprint is to start with, and of course the less air, the longer it also gets, but also changes your gearing for the worse.

On high tide wheel tracks or really soft blows, having tall skinny tyres let right down works as the footprint is long giving you grip, and the tyre's width isn't out of the track (or V shaped groove in really soft blows) pushing sand.

Just my two cents worth.
I hate to advocate drugs, sex, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.
