Hi All,

While you have all been chatting over the last few weeks, I've been lurking and reading everthing I can about the ML Triton.

Took the plunge on the weekend and purchased a gunmetal grey GLX-R. Should pick it up by the end of the week.

Fitted with diff-locker, tow-bar and cruise.

Traded a VZ Maloo and looking forward to getting behind the wheel of a real ute...!

Thanks to you all for the honest appraisals of your rigs, it made buying one a lot easier.:)

Yep, got the diesel. If it beats 16L/100 then it will be more fuel efficient than the Maloo...

I've always enjoyed driving diesels but these DiD common rail engines are something else. Plenty of torque, right where its needed.

Depends how you drive?

Thanks for the welcome guys. The site has some great info, "the good the bad and the ugly", thankfully most of it is good.

I'm being stuffed around by the dealer at the moment. Signed the contract on the w/e but I don't think the GM liked the deal when he came in on Monday...

If all goes well I should be in the drivers seat by Friday, keeping the pressure on them.

andyj - the grey crew may be small but it rocks!!!

OldManGrump and oink - I'm looking forward to some good diesel economy!

Hey Martyboy, got your pm, sorry for the slow response, there is nothing to hide so I'll post the info re my Triton purchase here.

If you have an ABN it is possible to pick up a GLX-R on the road for $40,990 or around $7k less than retail + o/roads.

Most are being advertised for $44,990 + o/roads but forget those, thats full retail. Even without an ABN you should be able to swing a ripper deal on something thats 07 plated.

They are advertising them on carsales.com at a couple of dealers around Melbourne. I'm getting mine through Alan Mance in Footscray. Should pick it up on Friday and the couple of guys that I dealt with on the weekend were decent guys.

I managed to get one with a diff locker, tow bar and cruise for $42,600 drive away. It was floor stock and I got the impression they were prepared to do a deal on this one rather than the 'still in plastic' Tritons they had out the back.

It is an ABN holders deal though, they made sure I had one before agreeing to the price and I think it is a combo of clearing 07 plate stock and trying to flog as many as possible to farmers/business folk.

this thread is going on an interesting slant at the moment- i purchased from knox mitsu in december, but didnt go with the lease option. im an abn holder, and knox is on a pilot program for 7 year terms on finance. i ended up with a 7yr chattel mortage (just a big standard loan) on mine, which resulted in lower month to month payments, and if i choose to pay it out after 5 yrs, the payout is less than the residual/ballon payment at the end of a 5 yr lease term anyway- and you can claim the full gst input in the next quarter.

possibly something worth considering if your self employed

you guys know that you don't actually need a ABN to get those deals? You can also be a farmer, ask them to sign you up to the farmers federation (takes 5 minutes) and then they can give you a farmers discount (same as ABN)
