Hi all,

How are we? Im currently an active member of newhilux.net and thought Id register here to see what you "TRY-ton", (sorry I couldnt help myself, but I promise that'll be the end of it) boys get up to, especially in the technical departments where Im always willing to learn new things and ideas and maybe get some helpful info in return and/or links to companies that can do things.

Im not here to triton bash at all, and Im not going to fill in a profile here either as that would be a traitor if I done that.

anyway heres a couple of small pics to wet your apetite-

currently she's without that roofrack, having 2nd thoughts about it atm. she runs 3 inch foam cell Fox struts and 285/75x16 Buckshots, plus a few other things.

works really well, I have 34 cm of clearance under the TJM front guards with half worn tyres.

got few things on the wish list, will see how we go.
heres some flex shots when she was at 2 inches-

I hope enjoy, I dont mind some hilux bashing within reason of course, hope to make some new aquantances here too and maybe get out wheel with some western suburb melbourne tritons if there are any.

see ya round 8-)

P.S Dave, good on ya for getting the Triton blokes on board, what brands next? I reckon we need a Navara forum too.

lol, Navara forum would contain one thread titled NCAP Safety rating....

Good to have you over here mate, a bit of competition is what keeps us all going, not that the Hilux is any competition compared to a Triton.... 8-) 8-) 8-)

There's always a bit of bashing between brands going on here, but I don't think anyone takes it too seriously.. Stu-k you out there??

Anyway mate, enjoy our side of the fence..

Oh yeah and thats one tuff looking lux..

Cheers, Shane.

Hi Mmaaxx - welcome to the site. Hilux of yours looks nicely set up.........;) ;)

Think you'll find there is a Navara network forum too.

Re yr ute - whats it weight now?? (I reckon a Triton would yank it around without too many problems...........hook a Triton on the front & you'll then be able to get over that rock you're stuck on in the pics.......) Seriously, only kidding, and I happen to like your rear deck bars & rack........

Is it just me or does the hilux have a much bigger nose than the triton? This was the best comparison I could find though its not very good. I honestly don't want a slanging match just noticed that the bash plate is so much longer and clearance and approach angle looks to suffer a bit.

TritonStu,

yeah Im always up for another trip, the last one was pretty good, other than getting the front stuck on that "camoflaged" tree stump!

Yeah, the hilux I think has abit too much front overhang, but the ARB bar is the best that we can get for it other than a custom made tube bar which I would love but the authorities wouldnt like it with the airbags and all that crap.

Stu-K, is it right or not? dont know, dont really care, Im just here to share the love brother!
8-)

LOL

Hey there Mmaaxx your hulix has pretty good wheel travel with your lift fitted. Here's some pics of how good a standard Triton is so what do you think?

Hey where the rock you drove on is it near your place? as i'm in caroline springs wouldn't mind driving mind on it to see how a triton compares
Cheers

That rock is at the front of my workplace in Altona North, you can try but if security drives past and sees ya you might get hassled.

maybe one day we tee it up on a saturday arvo after I finish work, you meet me there and we can take some flex shots!

what you think?

glx-r I presume that your flex pics were with stock susp and if so I'd check your flex again with the susp kit that you've put in ;)
You may find you have gained a bit of flex or you might have LOST some mate as some kits tend to be a bit heavy on spring rates and maybe that's why mmaxx went with the reset ;)

Spot on Sammy,

I didnt want a spring setup that was too stiff, my last hilux had stiff springs and although great for carrying a full load of gear, it didnt flex too good.

With the reset springs, when they get worn and sag I can get em for half price from work, either reset them again or go a bigger shackle, just a cheaper option I think and ride is great.

am considering airbags in the rear for extra load capacity when getting firewood or going camping.

GLX-R, yeah wombat is great, another good one is Mt. Dissappoint.

closer to home thou there is abit of a bog hole and rutted area 5 mins from caroline spring off a fire access track on sinclairs lane, just of plumpton road and across the creek. check the melways, you cant miss it.

another one is green gull reserve, 15minutes away, not supposed to go there but no ones been caught yet.

also, in Melton, at Melton weir, couple of great bog holes and heaps of small steep hill climbs within a small area.

would be good to go out one day if ya want and do some comparisons for both forums ey?
