HI ALL

I have a quick question. My dad recently bought a new tub for his Hilux and he got a canopy with it which he does not want, so i thought i would take it off his hands. I measure the canopy up and it is about an inch short, which is not all bad as i dont really want to cut the cabin protection bar off the tub.

SO my plan is to modify the canopy at the cab end with something to bridge the gap between the canopy and the cab protection bar. I was thinking of just using some sheet metal and rolling it to match the end profile of the canopy, but i am not sure if this will look a bit tacky or not.

Has anyone done something similar modified a shorter canopy to fit the MN Tub?
Does anyone have any suggestions on how i could go about doing the mods ??

I have an MN ARB Canopy and on the drivers side I have the sliding style window.
What do you guys reckon is the best way to try get hold of a lift up window to fit?

I've emailed ARB for a quote but assume it will be expensive.

Doesn't happen to be anybody out there chasing a sliding window in place of their lift up window :?:

Do you reckon they're a standard size? And is left the same as right?

If yes to both then check this out: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Crewman-ARB-Canopy-Left-Side-Flip-Window-/301440544126?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item462f41ad7e

Here's a driver's side off a hilux http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/townsville-region/other-parts-accessories/lockable-lift-up-toyota-hilux-canopy-window-door/1064210308

I'd definitely be asking if they're interchangeable. Or finding one parked somewhere and taking a few measurements.

Thanks Dave, I'll try do some inquiry to see if they are interchangeable, surely they aren't all different sizes.

I've got the genuine mitsubishi canopy. My opinion it's the better looking 1. Anyway as posted earlier in this thread my window locking lacthes have all but 1 broken. Finally had some spare time so took it for its service and asked to have the locks fixed on warranty. Got a call saying I would have to take it back to the dealer that fitted it. When I picked the car up they told me they where waiting on a part number for the locks and would call me once they came in. Still no call and its been a month. Mocing to brisbane from sydney in just over 2 weeks.
My question is, does anyone by any chance know the part number for the locks on a genunie canopy?

I use silicone spray in the tracks. It frees up the stuck windows, and then keeps them working smoothly. The latches on the factory canopy are a bit pi$$weak, so don't go pulling too hard on them if the tracks are sticky. (Currently working on some alloy latches).

Apart from that, my factory canopy is great.

Where you able to fix the latches yourself, if so how had is it to get them off and on. Im keen on getting my fixed and due waiting for the canopy to be delivered i only got 12mths warranty. (Thats a whole new story)
Any assistance would be great thanks.

Hey guys,

A few questions if i may?

1) Has anyone built a steel/aluminium canopy for a GLX/R with a tub?

2) Would removing the steel tub and replacing it with a flat tray and building a canopy to go on that offer quite a bit more space than the tub/canopy?

3) Would i need to get an engineers certificate for either of those options?

I am planning a big driving trip to Tassie later this year to visit the old man and mum, and dad has a heap of tools and fab equipment we could build something like this pretty quickly.

1) Yes, steel frame with aluminium chequer plate to enclose it. The owner designed it, I built it. It was ugly, but it was what he wanted.

2) Yes. Plus you can design it to suit whatever you want.

3) No.

Hey guys, new to the forum. Its probably already been discussed. I'm looking for a smooth Finnish canopy for my white 2014 mn dualcab. I was quoted $1800 + fitting from 3xm canopies . this would be a seconds though so I'm not to sure on the quality. Does this seem like a reasonable price ? It just has slide windows which doesn't really bother me. Or should I look at arb or tjm etc. Thanks !

Keep an eye on eBay.
White canopies pop up all the time. ;)
Should pick one up for under a grand and fit it yourself.

Other than that I've never heard of 3xm canopies.

I paid $1350 tjm installed if that helps I did search high and low for second hand with no luck.

Yeah that's why this guy was selling it, just gotta get some quotes on colour coding it now, its white but doesn't match the color of the car. Does anybody have an idea on what a reasonable price would be ?
