Hi Stephen, we have factory canopy on our GLXR and it is close to being water tight, there are 2 small areas at the back corners, where the canopy sits on top of the tail gate that needs some attention, other than that it is water proof. Hope you enjoy your new Triton as much as we do :D

Hey lads,

Just some info I thought I'd share...

Got some qoutes for an ARB canopy over the weekend, and when I asked to get the front sliding window flipped (so I can open it from the cab) I was first told that they couldn't as it would compromise the water proofing, then that the new Triton canopys are coming out with 'lift up' front windows. The salesmen showed me an email that ARB have sent out detailing the new changes, apparently resellers are being told to run out the old stock (with sliding front window).

There was a picture of the new window on the email and it looks like it will improve visibility greatly and make it a lot easier to clean the rear of the cab. Anyway sounds good on paper haha... Canopy gets installed in a few weeks so we'll know then if it's any better/good. I will throw some pics up for anyone who is interested in seeing the changes :)

Hi Bellazeus, for what its worth our factory canopy is great, It really depends what your needs are for it, we basically needed a canopy so I can take our Border Collie to work with me each day, which meant I needed sliding windows so they can be open for Her while driving, and front sliding window so you can keep canopy front windows and rear cab windows realitvely clean and also great to be able to access canopy from the cab have used this option numerous times so far, I didnt need the canopy to be able to carry heavy loads so the light load bearing capacity of the factory canopy was not an issue for us. Our main criteria for a canopy was good looks and IMO the shape of the factory canopy looks and suits the vehicle the best, the only thing missing on ours is an interior light so I will have to fit one in the future. I have read posts on this site that refer to the factory canopy as being crap so obviously they have had different issues with it but as for us we are absolutely happy. Iv'e noticed Carryboy do a canopy very similar to the factory one as well which would be worth a look and may have an interior light.
Good luck. :D
ps I have photos of our canopy in our shed if you want take look.

Thanks for the positive info, as we have a genuine one on order, which could not be supplied when we took delivery of the VR two weeks ago. Have requested a liner as well, and specified that it much be compatable with the canopy, so shall see when they arrive. The interior light should not be much of an issue, because when the dealer installed the towbar, they installed a relay for stop and tail lights (one for each) and the relays have a direct supply to the battery. I am looking at joining into that supply for the canopy light. Unless someone can suggest another idea.

Come on guys and girls,

This is suppose to be the thread where we get to see canopy stuff, where are all the pics.

The topic says "see them all here". Should we have a Canopy Thread - discuss your queries here ?

Come on, we want to see pics of your trucks with canopies in different colour combinations etc etc. Or is it just me that has a problem with this?

Does anyone know, can you fit a canopy to a ML trition if you have the sports bars on. Is it one or the other.

Sorry if I am upsetting people here, but I am really keen to see pics of canopies.

I am really keen to see each brand in different colours, by that I mean a black ARB canopy on a Black Triton looks great but a white ARB canopy on a White Triton not so great, this is an example of why I would like to see pics here.

I will get off my high horse now and hopefully no-one will get too upset at me, but this helps the thread stay on topic and helps people find the stuff they want. :D

If you want to discuss anything canopy related I have created this thread: http://www.newtriton.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=3433

ARB, in red.

Like the finish and quality, love the lift up side windows, hate having to lock 6 handles.
