I got the same canopy as dan. $1800 fitted with one lift window and ladder racks. leeks around the holes drilled to fit the racks and as for wiring the light to the parkers  I think they where just lazy and didn't want to run a power lead all the way to the cab just hooked it up to the rear park lights. Changed that pretty quick and hooked it up to the second battery. 8-)

Yeah, what's with that??...they did the same with mine....the bloke told me they wire the interior lights to the parkers now due to the canopy company policy. They reckon its cos people leave them on unnoticed & drain the battery!!...smells like a load of BS to me!

Why do companies always feel the need to protect against forgetfulness/morons? :x

I was told the newer version of the razorback comes with an LED light so therefore eliminating the power drain. However, when I asked him if the LED light can be fitted to the model of canopy I have....guess what??....thats right...NO!!!

problem is with wiring the canopy light to the headlights is this, as soon as i open the drivers door the lights turn off cutting the power to the canopy light also. i have to then turn the headlights back on in the cab so they stay on therefore draining more battery. WTF.

i have the newest version of the razorback in the country as it came off the last shipment. can't verify the LED (you can check it on sunday). it is the fist Aust import batch to have the lock solenoid installed at the factory. one point of note for people looking at these. if you unlock your triton but do not open a passenger or driver door it will relock within a set timeframe (about 2 minutes or so i have not timed it). As i believe they have connected the canopy to another slave wire if you open the canopy (only) it does not register to the vehicle locking system and will relock the car - so never put your keys down inside the ute section as you will lock them in when closing the canopy.  not a big deal but if it could be wired so that opening the canopy is similiar to opening the door then it may save a hassle locking yourself out in the future.

Exactly what happens with mine Snowman...

I put the actuator in my self and it piggybacks off one of the rear slaves... I get the lock closing automatically all the time... hasn't cost me yet... touch wood

Would piggybacking it off the master make any difference (if thats at all possible)?

Disclaimer: This is only my understanding (I might be wrong)

The only difference between a master and a slave is that if you mechanically turn a master with a key, it will pop all the other slaves (and masters for that matter). Where as if you mechanically turn a slave, only that slave will open. I believe the detecting that a door has opened is all controlled through the control box under the dash somewhere and I have no idea how that works...

I fitted a Razorback some 16 months ago now and after about 10 months, whilst away on an extended trip, I noticed the black perspex(??) around the side sliding window was cracking seriously. Not surface cracks, they go through 100% of the material.

On arrival back home in March I showed the retailer where I purchased it the problem and they instigated a replacement part from the manufacturer.

Yeah right....still waiting for that part.

Two weeks ago I gave them a polite reminder, they got on the phone to supplier...."yep, part is now in stock, will post it tomorrow"

Still waiting.

Cheers

Hi there fellow Triton owners I hope this post works as I have only just joined tonight and have never used a website like this before. Hats off to whoever started this site Ive had bit of a look around and the info is great.I am wondering if somebody could give reasons why the genuine canopy's are not as good as others. We have ordered an 09 GLX-R dual cab 3.2lt diesel which we hope to take possession of next week and have ordered the genuine canopy for it, I am now after reading some of these posts feeling a bit worried that I have done the wrong thing. My basic needs for the canopy are good looks, aerodynamic, sliding side windows and waterproof. I dont need a canopy that can carry heavy loads. I look forward to any information that you may have.
Cheers Mongo.

mongo - how much do they want for the canopy?

there will be others who give you info on the original one.

i will say this, i have a razorback and the ONE thing i reckon it is worth it for is the auto locking/unlocking. i have an ARB on my older triton and it is a PITA!!! as you have to unlock two extra locks. the razorbacks are not cheap at about $3000 installed although the ARB's were about $2400ish anyway recently when i looked (in smooth finish).

good luck with it.
