Engine code po234

Postby Mldtriton on Mon Jun 24, 2013 6:32 pm

Hi. Guys, I have a standard 3.2 ml triton, in the last 2 months it has started playing up in the cold weather the check engine light comes on and it goes into limp mode. I have had it checked out and it was engine code po234 which is engine over boost, the dealer told to just keep an eye on it. Not sure what they mean with that. Any ideas as to what could be causing this???

We actually have a thread already on this fault code - I doubt it has your answer but I'd encourage you to read it anyway:

We try to avoid doubling up on threads so I might move this post onto the end of that thread later so the info is all in one place.

Mate, welcome to the forum.

There is heaps and heaps of information on this. All you have to do is search, like this:

http://www.newtriton.net/phpbb/search.php?keywords=P0234+overboost&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all&sr=posts&sk=t&sd=d&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search
Chris

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

See also this thread:

Where are you located?
What year model is your ML?
Does it have a non-standard exhaust or any other performance mods (although I see you said standard it doesn't hurt to check)?
What if anything has the dealer done so far?

Thanks I did try to search it but couldn't find what I was looking for, as I read that you didn't like doubling up.

Located in ipswich. No modifications wifey won't let me :( . It is a 2007 model. Dealer just checked what the code was then took it for a test drive and said all fixed, then probably 2 weeks later it happened again I took it down to a different mechanic and they did the same thing and said it could be anything. And that they couldn't pin point what is causing the fault to happen. It seems to happen more on cold mornings.

If you haven't already take it to Eagers at Newstead. Ask for Lee McCarthy when you book it in. It's a bit of a drive but most people find it worth the effort.
