Basic checks
Any debris stuck between AC and radiator cores?
Fan clutch working properly?
Coolant level OK in radiator?
Fan belt tension - although serpentine belt on mn - should be OK.
Sticky thermostat?
Water pump should be fine with those kms.
Have you checked for combustion gases in coolant?
Is the temp sensor OK?

Mitsubishi said they did a pressure test and results came back fine.
Though Mitsubishi recommended a new radiator and hoses and change coolant to 50/50.

But it's a good point, how many new motors do you need before it's time to pack it in and get a different brand? The time off the road for each new motor is three weeks or more. When you commute interstate for work that's debilitating even with the novelty of getting a new motor.

Well, about 5,000km on the new motor, so far so good, started out on a trip to ayers rock towing the caravan, didn't even make it over the first climb without boiling, tried to manage it, but it was screwed. Had to turn around, family devastated, holiday had been planned and booked for a year. Looks like motor number 3 on the way. After that gets done I'm finished with Mitsubishi. I'll bite the bullet and buy a Toyota. Don't want to see my daughter bawling her eyes out again like that. Suppose I'm ranting, but why replace a faulty engine with another faulty engine, Wtf Mitsubishi..?.!
