Air Bag light reset - Townsville area

Postby calaist on Wed Feb 13, 2019 3:51 pm

Hi Guys,

Can anyone reset my airbag light for me? Had water in the 4wd during the flooding so took out the drivers seat to dry out under the carpet. Had to move the car and the since the airbag connector under the seat was disconnected, it now has the airbag light on. Stealer wants $40 for a 5 mins job.

Cheers,

Justin

$40 not too bad for reset. Remember you have no protection while that light is on.

Make sure the connector gets cleaned before leaving it connected as corrosion will give more problems down the track.

Resetting can only be done by Mutt or more advanced scanner tools, battery disconnection, shorting, etc will have no effect.

Hopefully the worst of the wet is over for you guys up there.

Went to another mechanic that I buy my filters off and they wanted $88

So said nah dealer will do it for half that. So back to the dealer hoping I wouldnt get the same guy that I got the other day and ended up talking to a lovely girl and she was very helpful. She went and spoke to a guy out the back who came out and had a chat, told him what happened and he said no probs. Took the car away and no sooner i had sat down in the office and he was back. All cleared. No charge. :)

Must have been the same attractive girl I saw last time I was there when servicing our other car.

Mine needs to have some connectors looked at on the lhs curtain airbag. I can do my own resets to some degree. Hopefully an easy fix.

Would be interesting to see the sale stats for dealerships that employ a higher number of cute 'themes' compared to a traditional all 'those' teams.

No doubt it doesn't hurt sales. It does appear that the local stealership is trying to improve their service department. They needed to. The staff I had talked to went out of their way to be helpful. Being attractive and having a nice attitude doesn't hurt repeat business at all.
