Right decision buying Mitsubishi??

Postby Richie21 on Sat Jun 22, 2019 11:36 am

Hello new to Mitsubishi just brought a 2011 triton 2wd.
Done alot of looking around before I brought me a ute. And now I've got one I found this site .and reading through seeing they have a over heating issue. That's the last thing I want because I brought it to to my race car to track days on a trailer
A few questions. What causes over heating in this 4d56 and can I prevent it
Has anyone done a vt10 to vt16 turbo upgrade. And is there much difference.
Always had Toyota or nissans .I hope like hell these ain't lemons.

Which engine do you have?

4x2s were fitted with the 4D56 motor that produced 100kW. Although there aren't many owners of these on the forum, I don't believe I'm aware of the overheating issue affecting them.

Turbo upgrades have been done. Some have been spectacularly successful, and unreliable, while others have produced more modest gains. A chip or an ECU tune is the more common means of wringing a bit more power out of these, and most modern turbo diesels.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

Cheers man. I want to put a bit more low down torque in to it .I'm a heavy diesel mechanic .so would be doing all or most of the mods .if they have over heating problems is it the water gallay design? I have a big 100mm aftermarket alloy radiator that I might look at putting in now to save me some heartache later on down the track
There is a ecutek tuner in my town I was going to get him to tune it for me. But wanted to upgrade turbo before I did and exhaust. Thanks for reply

No. Read through the links I gave you. The overheating is caused by a loss of coolant, so a bigger radiator won't help.

Bigger engine, supercharger or rail pressure chip.
