MAP Sensor Issues '08 4M41

Postby Cooper1960 on Sun Jun 23, 2019 1:55 pm

Greetings all.
I know it's an old topic, but I can't seem to find anything specific to my issue and hope someone (or consensus) can help.

Symptom: Loss of some power and threw a P0107 code. MAP sensor reading 46. Engine light not up, but does come up after stopping and restarting.

Started fault finding and found vacuum lines ok, wiring circuit to be good, with 5v in and earth good, but when I checked the sensor I had 5v out at idle. Removed the sensor and made sure lines were clear, sprayed some electronic cleaner around and in the sensor.

Problem cleared and had 1.4*v out at idle, drove fine when I took it for a run. Parked it up for 10mins and started it up again. Reader showed MAP sensor to be erratically jumping from 46 to 255 (lowest to highest readings the sensor outputs I believe), and occasionally flashing 98 (correct reading at idle). Both codes P0107 and P0108 were stored, which makes sense.

Pulled the sensor out again and tried another clean, but no good and reads 46 continuously, P0107 is stored all the time. Sensor reads 42 when unplugged.

I'm thinking stuffed sensor, but thought I'd run it past some collective minds on here before I throw $'s at it.

Appreciate any thoughts....

Intermittent problems will do your head in.

If you've basically isolated the problem to the sensor and eliminated cabling, etc, just replace the bugger and enjoy the time doing what you like.

You realise that the thread topic is talking about a MAP fault but you have indication that you are cleaning and playing with the MAF...

Which one is it? The MAP is on the firewall, the MAF is the one near the air cleaner.

For what it is worth, I cleaned my MAF on the weekend and my ML runs much better though that might have also been the SCV clean up or getting rid of all the crud in the inlet manifold.

Cheers
