What weight are you towing? (Caravan?) MN 2.5

Postby Denny Crane on Sun Oct 27, 2019 8:15 am

Greetings.

We are about to upgrade the expanda to a full van.

Just wondering if anyone is towing anywhere near the three tonne limit?

The expanda is about 2t loaded and I often have 2 motorbikes on the back and it performs flawlessly. I think it will be ok with the extra weight. Might not break any land speed records but I'm fine with that.

What sort of weight are you towing?

They will tow ok but its a massive expectation from the 2.5 to get up near 3t.
I sold mine back in May for a V8 petrol 100 series but was towing a 2.5t Jayco journey outback.
I honestly think anything over 2t your just making the MN work to hard.

I tow 2T and it tows happily. If you get strong crosswinds etc and you are towing your maximum allowance you would fear for your life.

Just because you can tow it doesn't mean you should. I would say that you could tow 3T okay and in good conditions and flat terrain all good. Add difficulty and it would be a different story.
Keeping the shiny side up since 1984. :D

hi there
the mn triton weights about 2ton and what ever you tow that is more than the 2 ton ute the caravan will dictate where you end up when loosing control . I always towed things that are less than the weight of the car. .
