How to post pics on the forum

In my opinion, the easiest way is to use Photobucket - this has the added bonus of being a secondary storage location for your pics :-)

1. Get yourself a free membership at http://www.photobucket.com

2. Upload your photos using the directions provided by Photobucket

3. Once the picture is uploaded, you will see it as a small thumbnail, with some coding underneath - you need to use the one that has IMG code

4. Copy and paste that line into your post on the forum like so;
[ IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/holmesie/untitled-1.jpg[/IMG]

5. It should then appear in your post like this - admire your work!

... can do it in XP (if you have it) by right clicking and choosing rezise pictures.. assuming you can get it to a PC?

If it's on the iphone still, I have no idea.

If you can email it I'll be happy to do it for ya...

Marty, the resize tool is downloadable from Microsoft, what the call a power toy...

Follow THIS link, on the right of the page about half way down you'll see "ImageResizer.exe" That's the one you want - download, install and the resize option will appear when you right click a pic...

there are 3 other inexact ways in XP, only 1 requires a download.

You can open the jpg in paint (programs/accessories/paint - or right-click and choose 'open with' and select paint) and change the image attributes (image menu, attributes) by reducing the number of pixels. Save your image and check size. repeat if necessary.

Alternatively, if you put the image file on your desktop (or somewhere else easy to access) right-click and choose send to - mail recipient. This should bring up an small box offering to reduce the size of your image. Choose the smallest option. A new email will come up with your photo attached. If it is now small enough you can either right click from there and choose 'save as' and put it somewhere or you can copy and paste it somewhere. The results on this method are a little random but it usually shrinks it quite a bit.

If the powertoy is not your go (I quite like it and miss it in windows 7 :( ) then you can download Irfanview which is a free image manager that will give you lots of control over stuff like size etc. This won't be an option if your IT people have locked you down on a work computer or whatever.

it will be if you use a Portable App of irfanview. then you can run it of a usb stick.

For those that are interested in a larger program to play with pics

http://www.getpaint.net/

it is a free program developed and maintained by a uni class and pretty easy to use, can do heaps, same as Photoshop and alike...

still the same as what Subi said up the top - you'll need to upload them to a website first and then paste links from the website in your post

this may be a really silly mistake on my behalf, but seems whenever i post pictures up, ie the landcruiser thread in the photo section, all my pics are chopped off by roughly 1/3 on the rhs, how do i rectify this as 2/3 the picture is frustrating!

I find that if I resize to 640x480 pixels before I post to photobucket they fill out nicely :geek:

I believe there is code in the forum to limit the display size so as not to force the borders out, should be able to click your 2/3's image and it will resize to view...
