That's disappointing.
It would be easy to say the extra power in the same vehicle should reflect in higher fuel consumption but the 3.2 was rated at 9.1L/100km and gave 9.34L/100km for the first 3 fill ups. Now the 2.5HP rated at 8.3L/100km is only returning 9.6L/100km when it should be more like 8.5L/100km by direct comparison.

It's not a different time of the year? Stinking hot with A/C running compared to cold damp winter?

The new one is not an auto is it??
They are the close to the official fuel use for the 2.5 auto.

looked again as I pressed submit  man = manual?

11.17 for first fill from new last Friday on a brand new GLX-R auto. Mostly around town with a bit of a run out the freeway.
Much better that previous ride which was a Nissan Pathfinder R50 V6.

another fill up, 10.5l / 100,

seems like thats the best it can do,

according to the OSD its chewing 14l/100 towing my 3 tonne boat,

10.5-11l/100 at 105km/hour (100kms actual) with cruise set on straight road.

It's starting to look as though the MN's aren't really doing much/any better than the ML's which is a bit dissapointing :(
If yours is only using 14/100km towing 3 tonne though that is pretty darn good imo so you would think it would do alot better unloaded :?

Completed a holiday run with mud, highway and tracks.

Average is now down to 11.1L/100km over 1750km usage.

But the dash tells me 9.3L/100km

Somthing weird been happening lately....

Had to tow our mobile water tank, (to water cattle)

Its 6000litres of water plus a heavy duty trailer (est 1000kg) so about 7tonne total,

The girl towed it with ease, and was only doing 40-50km/hour due to being on a dirt road only with it, so econonomy displayed on OSD was only 11l/100,

But after towing that tank, my normal cruising highway driving was down to an OSD reading of about 8.5litres & my fill was 65 litres for a return of 690 km's. mutch better than the no less than 10.5l/100 i've been getting.

I dont understand how all this electric/computer driven cutes work, but is it possible that because it had to tow a much heavier load it had to re-calibrate or somthing along those lines.

Food for thought....

the injectors in these have a re-learn function where they tend to recalibrate for efficiency.

I wonder if the varied and crap fuel figures we are experiencing are the related to the fact that the MN does not come with a tray cover?

Could this be adding wind drag and reducing fuel economy?

Tests have been done on utes and the difference was very minimal, not worth the purchase price of a cover

I have had a ML for 50,000km and would average around 650km per 65L i filled up. Now I have a new MN triton and doing the same driving ive done 5,000km sofar last tank i did 710km to 61L, and on each fillup I have done atleast an extra 50km then the previous ML.

By the computer driving around town under 90km/h it sits on just over 8L/per 100km. Country driving at 110km/h on flat road will sit at 9.2L/100km. My last long drive which included lots of hills and aircon on it was on 11l/100km. Towing my trailor with bikes on was around 12L 100km, which i think was very similar to the older ML.

There were some claims that the 2.5 in the MN would have to be pushed hard when carrying a load or towing and the fuel consumption would be less than the 3.2 under the same circumstances. Would you say that claim has proved to be false?
The other fear was that it would get so hot it would catch fire like the Navaro, I think it was? Early days but non seem to have burned yet.

Our last trip; Canberra - Charlottes pass return with some tracks and dirt, no mud :(. Standard everything diesel manual aircon on most of the time, tub 1/4 full and 2 adults and one rugrat.

Approx 720kms for 63L = 8.75l/100km :o light was on for a awhile but still only took 63l. Mitsu quote it should come on with 11l remaining.

Just filled up again today, this time just about all town driving and got 547kms for 52.5l = 9.5l/100km

last four tanks have been 9.57, 10.18, 9.15, 8.93. Last two tanks have been mostly freeway km's. Buggered if I know how people are getting low 8's. I know i drive it like its a petrol but I dont thrash it. :?

I would say the 2.5 is alot better for towing. You can defiantly notice the extra torque. I would need to take the bikes out more to get a better figure, so dont quote me on that 12l/100... summer atm so wont be for a while.

I'll never tow one so I'm not fussed. MN any day, with half an ML attached.

empty fieldbin but couldn't get the tyres moving across the drill rows, still weighs 1.5t empty. everything else was basically the same( tyres, suspension, stock everything) just has absolutely nothing until the turbo spools and then the wheels were spinning anyway.
