Consistent 10.6L each 100kms, city or highway, A/C on all the time. Still near 10k kms old, I`ll see after first oil change this week, if numbers modify.

Sometimes low range is needed with small diesels in these circumstances.
especially when attempting a moderate climb from standstill.

Have any of you guys thought about getting a chip? I get just under 700k's to a tank and that's totally city driving out of my ML. Showing 9.1 on the trip, hitting 7.2 on the highway. I've got one of those Nafta chips and for $350, it's pretty much paid itself. :ugeek:

First tank for me was mixed city and freeway driving with aircon on- 9.6L / 100km indicated on the trip computer and calculated from the odometer so apparently my trip computer is spot on? Certainly the odometer is within 1% compared to the GPS at all speeds so v happy with that.

Second tank so far - 4 people + gear in the car on long highway trip (with aircon) - the difference in economy at the different speeds is staggering:

85km/hr = 8.2L
95km/hr = 10.2L
110km/hr = 12.3L

There is definately a sweet spot just under 90 - the fuel usage leaps up just on 90... mind you the engine has only travelled about 600km so far so it's tight as a blowfishes ass at 200 fathoms...

ML 2.5 manual for a comparison.

10,000km average = 8.43L/100km

Mostly city driving. I think the ideal speed for economy is between 75 and 80kph where the boost is only about 0.5psi and it's pulling about 1600rpm.

The more I drive the Triton the more I like it, and the worst mileage I´m getting, I like to rev (3000 rpm) and speed a bit, but now I´m getting 8.7 kpl instead of even 9.4 kpl when the early kilometers. :|

Bob, you need to convert that to l/100km ;) for a better comparison here to everyone else.

That's 11.5L/100km now compared with 10.6L/100km earlier.

Thanks Sierra, good to know I´m using .9 liters more every 100 kms, I like this truck so much realy, I have been busy lately, but as soon as posible I´ll block the EGR valve, and set the koni shocks, I´m sure after that I´ll have many coments to do, original shocks are begining to loss control over suspension movement, I can see it every day on and on.
Best regards.

Yep, thanks Daryl, I see mine consumes about average, guess it is good with a 80% of city driving.

The seats are owful I must admit, I use diferent seat things to be about comfortable, but never realy, like in my wife´s jeep, it is great I don´t do long travels often, for the first time this morning I though it would be a good idea a new seat, sorry, back to diesel consuming, it runs very nicely to worry about .9 liters every day  , by the way what do you think of global warming?, being Australia one of the most global warming afected countries acording to news we listen here, debate about it has been intense lately in some parts of the world. Only that regret in my mind about blocking the EGR valve. What can I say about this truck, I´m happy I bougth it, I would change it for a 2009 version with ABS, not for the longer 2010 box. A three liters engine and an automatic transmision would make this truck much more comfortable I´m sure about it, any way I love this 2.5 liters drive thing! :D

Yes low range and revs get you out of any thing if you´re lucky.

Try a set of seat spacers that lift the fronts up a bit from did32?

The EGR valve seems to cause more pollution than it saves and reduces the life of the engine.
I'm a dedicated greeny and worry myself sick at times about what's happening but like most, i do very little about it, that's really meaningful anyway. I had no hesitation blocking off the EGR after looking at it in detail. It's a really crap way of getting the right readings at the tailpipe at the right times. It's complicated, blocks the manifold, pollutes the engine oil, causes inefficient combustion, increases fuel consumption, lowers performance and if it goes wrong, sticks open, will no doubt wreck the engine.

Please stop, say no more I can´t stand it, I know, that´s because I keep revs up to keep it closed, but yes I need to block it soon!
So far about 16k kms with it working. :?

It's only 2 bolts and loosen the 4 above it so it can move enough to get the gasket in there.
Yours shouldn't throw a code without the chip so you can do it any time.

Blanked my egr 4 weeks ago at the exhaust manifold and changed the oil at the same time. Used penrite hpr 15. Economy has gone from 11.2lt/100km up to 11.4lt/100km (mainly city driving) not too concerned as oil is still reasonably clean so not a bad trade off. Have now got a flat spot under light acceleration thoe, between 2000rpm and 2800rpm. Has anyone else noticed this?

My auto MN has 8000Km on the clock. It has 265/70/16 BFG All Terrains, a canopy and a drawer system. I'm getting around 9.5L/100Km sitting on 95kph (550km country and 50Km city driving) and 10.5L/100km all city driving. If I stay on the 100kph limit the 9.5l/100k increases to 10.5l/100k.

Oh Im loving this thing.....

Manual MN average speed 54km/h 90km a day country + bit of roadwork + 10km a day city start stop. Varied fuels all much the muchness rock solid 7.5l/100 measured at the pump.

5000kms on the clock now. Posting now as its a time of change. Just put in the EGR blank yesterday and her first tank of Ultimate. ChipIt chip going in shortly too....be interesting to see where she winds up.

Been interesting with the blank + Ultimate. She is noticeably quieter than regular BP diesel but likely about the same as Vortex Diesel. However, niceest change, low rev high load situations moderate incline road used to take 3rd gear or struggled. Left it in 4th yesterday no problem at all....

Just that little bit less like driving 'the little engine that could' :)

Hello there, finaly blocked the evil egr valve and change oil at same stop, my first impresion was of a quiter engine, don´t know if because of blocked valve or Mobil 1 5w40 ESP new oil. After driving it for almost a week I can say aceleration is continum and spotless, somebody say lineal and I agree with that description. It acelerates easily through all range up to 4k rpm, not with jumps of strength like before. I still haven´t put diesel, so don´t know of diesel compsumtion yet, but it doesn´t seem to improve, I´ll check at the pump soon.
Thanks friends!

mn Gl-R manual ave 9.6 mainly hwy use. Have been back to the dealer twice and I do have an overfueling problem and right or wrong Mitsubishi will fix this and get a lot closer to the advertised 7.1 and 8.1. Iv'e tried all different speeds from cruising on the hwy at 90kph and still stuff all difference. If I could het close to the 8.1 on the hwy i would be happy. I think there are some very switched on mitsu techs but trying to find them and what dealer they work for is nearly impossible. As soon as these MN's get a fuel problem they just reflash and think that will fix everything.
