What economy are people getting from their MN's

Stats via display, will do more testing via litres used to k's done in time.
I have done 1 check by filling to full, then doing 568 k's, then filling to full and i put in 61 litres.
So the dask display seems like its displaying ballpark figures.

10-11l / 100 with air-con on at 110km/hour with cruise set.

11-13l / 100 with air-con around town.

Also, has anyone noticed a differant in economy using differant grades of diesel ?

10.74L/100km for the manual isn't too brilliant when it's rated at 8.3L/100km. That's nearly 30% more fuel than the 47L it should have used.
Mine is rated at 8.2L/100km and that's what I got until it warmed up and the A/C has pushed it up to about 8.6 - 8.7L/100km all town short trips.

Have you got the OD on all the time?[if it's got it?] Edit Drrrrrrrrrr! It's a manual!!!!!!!!!!
Have you put bigger tyres on and not allowed for that? You must be running it in hard otherwise.
:D

For this first weekend of having the MN i drove it a bit in both city and highway with aircon on the second setting the trip read 9.0L/100km (nice and rounded figure).

If any of you have a Boost or Scan Gauge it would be interesting to know what boost the MN is pumping out?
Especially the manual.

yep, that was my concern as well,

same shit tyres it came with.

Only mods done are uhf/170 strikers/turbo timer/softcover/rear step on its way

1700k's done, havent got the 1500 done yet, getting it done wednesday.

It did start off in the 8-9 range for the first 500 k's, then its slowly crept up.

Revhead,

My guess is you're living up to your name and enjoying leaving the other traffic behind!
;)

If you're in Perth I would be interested in the shit tyres as long as they come with the shit rims.

ehehe, i like the rims,

just not the tyres, terrible for offroad & our local tyre dudes dont want to trade em.

As for Revhead'ing it around, i've actually been quite reserved to planting the foot,

I'm going to try filling up at a differant provider to see if its a quality issue or not.

We dont get any special flavours of diesel around here.

doing 120km/ hour it was reading 16l /100 ..... (with cruise set)

I just got 600km from my first tank (75L?). Most of the time was just plodding up to the shops but I did do one heavy tow between Wollongong and Sydney with a few hills on the expressway.

To my calculations, that's about 12.5L / 100.

Happy with that! :D

EDIT: Sorry fellas, my attempted sarcasm was confused by the wrong smiley

Should have been  :x :x

Hey Mate,

Not sure i'm so happy with mine being over 11l / 100,

Booked it in for its 1500 service tomorrow, dealer tells me they have some updates for the computer to apply aswell. He hasent dont the 1500 on any other MN's yet so he dosent know what effects they will have.

doing 100km/hour (97kms according to GPS) according to the display its chewing 10.5L/100

at 110 km/hour (speedo) its chewing 11.8L/100, awefulling big jump for 10km/hour & 200rpm)

Will let you know how the hotfixes pan out.

Are you still on standard tyres? If so, at least it looks like they got the speedo a little more accurate. My ML was doing 93 by GPS when the speedo read 100.
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal labotomy!

530km done from absolute full, refilled again to absolute full and jammed in 56litres.

10.3L / 100km is the actual economy.

Good to see they kept up with the trend on accuracy regarding the LCD display

What's with the new more powerful, more fuel efficient 2.5 then?

Not any better than my V6.....and not as quick :P

I agree Homer. These numbers aren't living up to the claimed figures at all. Wait till they start putting barwork, tyres and canopies on. My ML is getting better than these numbers with all the extras. Having said that, it has also done 50K.

1500 done, told me they dont know of any hotfixes for the MN tritons,

They did however do the re learn injectors, which has made a big differance.

A lot more responsive at launch.

filled full agian, 65 litres for a return of 620km's,

still over the 10litres/100, mind you, its been stinking hot, air con + hot intake might be playing a part aswell

Also only done 2000km's so far, should loosen up a little over time.

Would be good to see some more people with MN's post up their economy figures ;)
Just as a comparison we just filled our ML which is standard other than egr plate and it did 445 Km on 38.5 Lt's so by my calcs (if right) that's 8.65 Lt's /100 Km's or 11.55 Km's to the Ltr.

It's now done just a tad over 4000 K's ;)

Just did a trip from melbourne to hamilton in victoria.
Did 690Klms and used 59.96l which is 8.7L/100. Computer reading was 8.8.
In the city with easy driving along beach road at 60klm/hr I am returning 7.3L/100. Computer is reading 6.7L/100 ???? a little bit of an error in the lower range!!
I found this a little strange how the car returns better economy in the city than on the highway.
I am a first time owner of a triton, and have just upgraded from a 1998 Prado GXL.
MN GLX-R Manual. Car has done about 2000Klms. Still have not had the 1500Klm service done yet.

That sounds a bit more like it. Rated at 8.3L/100km and returning 8.7 and 7.3
They chew juice at speed because of the wind resistance caused by the shape and high ground clearance causing underbody turbulence. Still, 7.3L/100km is exceptional.

Only done 350kms so far (still above half a tank remaining) so I assume the computer reading not too far out at 8.5l/100km. Has been a mix of highway and city driving to date. Will update once I do more k's.

If you get 400km out of half a tank it should be low 8's so looking good.
