update on the fridge just in case anyone was looking at one

I bought a digital thermometer today and ran it in the fridge side for a couple of hours, the baffle had been open all night and it was floating between -5/-6 deg then in the freezer side which was floating between -23/-25 deg

Buying stuff from China

I've bought a fair bit of gear of ebay and most has been really good bar a 150 lt/min compressor which melted the cable 1 st use and then when they fixed it and sent it back I ran tests against my Max air 75 lt/min :o
The Max air killed it by quite a bit so I sent it back and got my money back or most of it :(
It may have just been a boggie compressor I don't know but was no where near the Max air ;)

just got the 150 lt/m compressor last night, let all 4 tyres down to 0psi then ran the comp for 5 minutes on each tyre,

1st tyre was at 47psi next 2 were 46 and the fourth was at 45 so it seems to work pretty well, cables stayed cool but had to let the unit sit for about half an hour before I could pack it up it was hot as hell

If stu lets a tire down to 15 psi and pumps it up for exactly 2 mins and tells us the pressure I will be able to tell 8-) ;)

Guess what I won on ebay over the weekend

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260220746565&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=016

I bid $80 on it just before I knocked off on thursday and I didn't really expect to win but sure enough when I checked it this morning I got it!

Not bad for $73 delivered!

Whats the size of the case that the compressor comes in.? W x H x D.

I would not mount the comp under the bonnet if that is what your thinking. These compressors are not deigned to handle that kind of constant heat and when you go to use it, it may be to hot or be very close to over temp trip out.

Was doing some 4wding at stuarts crossing over the weekend (upper shoalhaven river) one of the blokes has a brand new ARB compressor mounted under the seat. it is a nice neat spot but it gets blood hot (no ventilation under there) and under the seat is not good if your going to sink your car with about 200mm of water in the car as the compressor gets drowned (as he did) had to dry out the wiring, relay and fuse holders and drain out the water from the compressor.
Just thought you should know in case of mounting in either of these places.

Yep sam 265/75/16, I guess the only thing to worry about now is how long it will last

re-king triton, I think you would need to move alot of stuff to fit one of these under the bonnet anyway mine will live in the case in the tray. Case size is 43x32x6 cm

Not sure on the dimensions yet! It was just a spur of the moment thing and I figure it wont really suit a permanent mount but its a quarter of the price of the ARB mounted equivalent so I'll chuck that in for now and if its worth getting a mounted one later I'll pay the $$$ and retire this one to the garage.

King, how did 200mm of water end up getting water under the seat?

It wasa 200mm in the car the total depth was was maybe about a 2 foot. The bloke was in a brand new 75series troopy with a 3" lift he droped of the sand bank and then just sunk it the sand right up to the floor of the car. it was like a suction, tried his new 9500lb ARB winch but it shit it self so done a double snatch to get him out.
finally got him out and he had no rear brakes got back to camp and the cruisers have a combination disc & drum on rear the drums were chock full of sand so had to remove wheels brakes and disc and drum clean it all out.
Then we went out the next and he sunk it again not as bad though.

OUCH!

That's two winch nightmares this year! Do any of you guys carry a hand winch on board as a back up? Sounds as though it'd be a worthwhile insurance.

I saw a bloke with a tow truck at a take away yesterday and he had the 12000lb version of the winch, he's had it for about three months working every day so I guess that's a good sign for the cheap winches
