Buying stuff from China

Just wondering if anyone else has any 4wd gear from china or do most of you go for the brand name gear?
The reason I'm asking is because in the last few months I've picked up a winch and a 12v compressor fridge/freezer both for pretty well spot on $500 each and while the winch is still sitting on the garage floor The fridge has been running for about a week in the garage, yesterday the temp in the garage was 48 deg and the freezer didn't budge off -19, also had a look under the hood and all appears well built with no bodgy wiring (which I did expect to see) also having a close look at the winch it seems remarkably similar to the TJM & Ironman branded ones (if they are not coming off the same production line I'll be a monkeys uncle).
So I guess I'm asking have you bought stuff from China? did it break pretty quickly? I have in the past and have had some pretty crap items turn up but it looks like they might be getting their act together and producing some reasonable quality stuff

Care to provide a link to your source?

TBH I think the only risk these days is that you can't return it as easy if it does die on you. Most stuff comes from the same production line as you said so the quality is generally comparable.

I know the winches you can buy from Aldi are virtually identical to the Ironman ones...

I'd like to know your source too Stu ;)

these are the exact items I got, the winch was $420 plus delivery & the fridge was $511.20 pick up in Melbourne, there is a guy in NSW selling them also big chilli coolers in QLD & there is an ad in this months 4wd action that is selling them for $750 which made me laugh cause in the ad it said buy direct from the importer and save $$$

With the winch though if you are looking at getting one don't make the mistake I did and get the fixed control box, it is too high to fit in a tjm bar & I had to get my local engineering shop to make up a set of stainless rods to hold it together once I took the control box off

stu- does the fridge fit in the tray with a hard cover, or is it a back seat job?

no compressor yet but I'll probably grab the 150l p/minute one. Thats the only problem I see buying from china is that you can't view/test the product first but I've had luck with the last two buys so it's just a matter of popping a few in my watch list on ebay and see what people are paying then try and get one a few bucks cheaper

cyber I've got a canopy mate, but when it gets home from mitsu I'll check how high it sits. It does fit perfectly length wise (to the mm) between the wheel arch to the tailgate tho

I'm still unsure if I want to try and mount it somewhere permanent so I guess that's helping me procrastinate a little

How big is it buzzy? Could it fit under the seat or behind the back seat or in the engine bay or is it sitting in the tub for life?

Its pretty big 8-)
Was going to try and fit it in the engine bay on the opposite side to my batteries but theres to much shit over there (ABS crap). If you are only going to have one battery it would fit were the second battery would go on a custom bracket. Also thinking about putting it behind the bar somewhere. At the moment its sitting in its carry box which I just throw in the tray when I head up the beach or whatever.
