Plenty of Falcon taxis have been over the million mark.

Mate has had 3 that have done it before being pensioned off.

I had a HJ75 that did 550000km before the engine gave up the ghost.
Think it broke a ring as one cylinder was way down on compression. It got 2 bottles of engine honey and got traded in

Better read back through the pages Jaymac...
Mod talk:
Sometimes indecipherable to the average Civillian. Example:
Homer:
I clearly remember Joe stating categorically that he prefers it in the bottom
Joe:
I didn't say it was better in the bottom, I just said it was easier and quicker.

G'day All,
Apologies for my lack of presence, just flat out in here unfortunately.
Big shake ups for the boys out there doing the driving which has slowed their work flow down temporarily. All is well with both vehicles. Triton is still based local primarily but has had occasional trips out west. Currently gearing up for a big influx of work where both Triton and Hilux are going to be flogged thoroughly in the bush. Both sitting on just under 100,000 ks and performing well.

Both received a VMS in dash GPS and they are great.. a little effort to install but easy enough with a few beers.

Quick notes:
Hilux uses more fuel, difference of about 1 litre per hundred based on same driver and usage.
Hilux servicing is consistently cheaper, both at ultratune with a great relationship with them. Apparently the parts for the Hilux are just cheaper.
Triton has more comfortable ride (suspension), Hilux has more comfortable seat and nicer steering.
Driver of the Hilux misses the traction control from the Triton and said that offroad it was better. Its amazing what a reasonably stock vehicle with a set of all terrains can actually get through.
I still struggle to see why the 10k difference in price and i don't think i would do it again.
New Triton coming out too?? Any good?
Cheers all.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything important, it's too late to stop reading it.

Speaking to guy with mn next to me at supermarket carpark. Told him I'm about to click over the 200k on the clock and he replied he'd just cracked 235k. So mns are getting up there.

G'day all, im back.
Time to dig up an old thread i guess...
Triton #2 is still out and running, currently sitting on about 360,000k doing a run up in the sunshine coast. Its had a hard life to date and starting to show but mechanically still chugging along.
Hilux has hit 374,000k and was the favourite of the driver up until last week when it cracked a piston. Full engine rebuild required and considering the state of the vehicle generally, we sold it for 5k and its gone.
TRITON WINS!!!
So, onto the next one... about to pull the trigger on a new Triton...
Anyone know whats trhe best way to get GPS onto a base model?
VMS dont seem to make one for the new ones, im about to google but if anyone has any ideas, im all ears.
Cheers all

good to hear from you again and thanks for the feedback.
triton still has to get through another trouble free 14,000kms to win in my opinion, but I have faith that it will do that.

base model MQ triton has a double din radio as standard, so any aftermarket type will fit

https://www.digoptions.com.au/?rf=kw&kw=mq

dig options were/ are a similar product to VMS, I have no idea of the quality these days if you need ozi explorer type GPS.

Yep thanks for updating us, Mick.

Go the mighty Triton! It was always going to last longer than the hilux.

So what were some the consumable so far on the Triton? I'd assume injectors would have been replaced at some point? Suspension components ect ect.

Just get your drivers to use their phones for gps? Or a dedicated gps that just sits on the windscreen?

Don't go for the "Dig options" total junk in my opinion! I put one in our Landcruiser, worst thing ever! Slow to switch on, not user friendly, hopeless navigation!
I'll be replacing it with a kenwood unit soon enough.

Re: DPF on MQ

Postby new44 on Mon Mar 18, 2019 7:36 pm

Its probably not the right section to comment,,,,,

After using an ML for 60,000
an MN for 120000
and two MQ’s for about 140000 combined

The MN and MQ’s have seen some very rough terrain and treatment.

I think the Tritons are equal to or better than any of
the dual cab utes.

This thread might be a bit more relevant, even if it is in the Fourth Gen section.

Have to agree though, they area tough bit of gear....even the MNs.
Chris

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?
