I had a full day
finished wiring aux battery
stripped all the add-on wiring & 5 different fuse holders under the bonnet
mounted new Blue SEA 6 fuse panel & almost completed the re-wire
will be much neater when finished tomorrow :) (I hate messy wiring)
doesn't sound like much, but I didn't come back inside till 11pm
another full day coming up tomorrow

What did you do to your Triton today?

Postby TUFF TROOP on Sun Nov 06, 2011 7:55 am

I washed it and polished out some bush pinstripes , welded some new bashplate mounts on ready for high country trip, removed the UHF to clear up some dash room as hate wiring and crap everywhere ,might get one of those remote head ones now.
Checked all my brakes etc ,
Will give it a service next week when I replace my manifolds and make my new 3" dump pipe . Hopefully my new tyres are in this week also!

Cut out the holes in my headboard tank for my recessed tie down points, ready to weld in when I get back home this arvo. Used the chance to put some sikkaflex along the inside seam of my water tank while I have the holes in them as wel as a bit of a spray with rust paint to slow the rusting process as I was in too much of a rush to do it when I built the tank.

Also degreaser and pressure cleaned the tray ready for an acid bath and primer for the upol raptor kit that I'll hopefully apply next weekend.

Marathon cleaning effort today. Still getting red dust out it after 4 months in the chassis rails etc. Might respray the bashplates the same colour as the front coils.

Give it once over with some Meguiars Generation NXT 2 polish.

Also a snort with the vacuum cleaner on the inside.

I went loco trying to find a barrel thread fitting for the EGT thermocouple... Damn NPT useless crap.

Why couldn't the probe be just a half inch longer!

Anyway, a bung fitting, drill press and a tap and die set later its all a go.

Now that I've wasted a half day swearing Im gonna crack a rum

Did I mention I hate NPT! Damn yanks.

Well I had a good look underneath to find that the oil leak is gear oil coming down between the gear box and bell housing, I think the gear box bell housing bolts are loose and the bolts are inside the bell housing   So it's either bust ones ass and pull it out and fix it or take it to the local mechanic give him lots of money to fix it   If he does it at least I'll have a bit of warranty I hpoe

Today I gave the truck a well deserved wash, also pressure washed the leaf pack out which has gotten rid of a lot of the squeaking!!!

Now just got to get motivated for the inside!

here's the one I used
http://bluesea.com/category/81/21/products/5028
there is quite a few variations, with/without cover, 6 or 12 fuse & -ve busbar.

Well today (yesterday now) my Tri got an oil & filter change, unifilter clean,
under bonnet wiring tidy completed which included shortening of chip loom (I think there was enough wire there to mount the chip in the tub  ),
fitted switch in dash for voltmeter to change between main & aux batt.
Made a support bracket for front number plate to stop it bending on water crossings.

didn't have time to get camera out & take pics of wiring & aux battery setup, will do so soon & add to build thread.
I'm nearly ready for the High Country trip now, one more weekend & I should be done....I hope

I had a look at "Fred" this morning and really felt sorry for him.

He has now done 70,000Km in a little over 12 months, and after his last service he has a case of surging and keeps throwing CEL's.

He was feeling good until he come home from his recent service, and since then is feeling a little sluggish and out of sorts.

I'm a little worried for him as he just isn't the same any more.

The poor bugger is covered in scratches and is looking a little worse for wear, to match his current mood.

He is going back to the doctors this weekend to have his thrust bearing replaced, and hopefully the Doc can work out why he is feeling down in the dumps.

He did get a bit of a wiring tidy up this weekend, and next weekend we will replace his nose (Nudgebar) and give him back some of his vision (spotties) as he has been suffering a little night blindness since our last trip out.

I just wonder how he is going to look and feel in another 12 months. Poor bloke is ageing so quickly.

I believe they go in through the anus to do that these days. Less invasive.

Apparently he's having major surgery this time round instead of the keyhole surgery they tried last time and will be in hospital for 2-3 days. They are going to pull out his gear box to get a good look at the problem.

I wish Zoe's doctor was that thorough, so far they've (apparently) solved a surging issue, a VGT Boost issue and a lack of power all by upgrading the ECU multiple times. Problem is, last time they upgraded the ECU she left with less power than she went in with

Can't wait to get my Chip-It and gain some of my lost power back

See the build up of my old Triton here.
