Mitsu is giving buyers choice :D

Mitsubishi stopped the V6 in Triton/L200 worldwide, I can only guess they were riding the trend for small economical diesels.

Obviously they realized their mistake and are now rectifying it.....

V6s...4 speed autos...easy select...not exactly cutting edge for the Triton and certainly not relevant to the Australian market. Surely wouldn't be relevant to Europe either. Maybe South America / Asia (doubtful)? or places like Trinidad and Tobago etc

I don't think much is happening to Triton for a while yet aside from some spec/detail changes and that's a maybe IMO.

Don't use this L200 site as a guide for where Triton is heading. ;) That's assuming it's even current info...

Or even the Middle East. There is an option to view the model line up with GCC specs which I think is 'Gulf something something'.

The Pajero, Pajero Sport/Challenger , and Triton are still marketed in some countries with petrol engines. For example, in Vietnam the Pajero comes with 3.0l V6 only while in China the Pajero Sport has the 3.0l MIVEC V6 only and there are no diesels in any of the range. The Triton also can still have the 3.5l V6 in some markets. This is to do with local conditions. For example in China distillate is in short supply and is kept for heavy vehicles, rationed for light vehicles, while emerging markets like Vietnam get smaller engines.

Just because the Triton may still be available in V6 form in other markets does not mean that it will ever come back here. The manufacturers have decided that we will have diesel engines in DC utes and by not offering petrols now have the proof that our preference is 100% for diesel.

The links above are for Mitsubishi's global website. The country websites have more accurate information.

Absolutely...and by the comments on this site it is working...baaaaaa.....baaaaaaaa.

But I bet they are regretting it now with choka block service centres full of warranty jobs

In 15 yrs they will all be electric with massive torque per KW and infinite variable speed drive and they will be saying the same about the diesel as they are the petrol engines now....but will it be true?
I hate to advocate drugs, sex, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.

Love my V6, I have had 3 Triton & the last 2 were diesel, noisy & rattly but better fuel economy, but the reason I went with Petrol this time was I got tired of every beautiful river crossing I did there seemed to be a slick left on the river from the oil off my engine now with the petrol after crossing it is still as clean as before the crossing. I used to get about 12l/100 in the diesel ne oe I get 14.2l/100 in the petrol not that much of a differnece especially when you take into the discussion that in 2 years the 25cent diesel excise will be removed from Diesle purchases, that will be the heavy industry Carbon tax contribution as we are exempt at the moment. Then Petrol will be much cheaper to run. Horses for courses.

I just want the simple things and don't understand why certain options are not available in Australia. Eg heater side mirrors, heated seats .

really really really bad photoshop effort.

NO "all new" triton till 2014. Widely reported.
I am wagering it will be a much bigger vehicle (like ranger, amarok, etc).

I would have thought MY13 are already rolling out off the showroom floor by now?
The final MN model, or close to it.

Dealers, if it is not out, would have spec sheets by now with any improvements. Which, at most, would be cosmetic. Do not expect the above though.

I'm sure I read somewhere that my13 has been around for a while with the deleted front diff disconnect and locking pretensions on the rear seat belts removed.
Mitsubishi is clearly changing their style mould so the front of the new triton will not look anything like the current lancer...

They are still knocking out Trojans here in the UK, with the shorter, curvier tub than the others in the L200 range. I have had a 2013 model for about a month now, and it's pretty sweet. It has super-select 4wd plus a rear diff lock, height adjustable seats, HID projector lights (amazing... best I've ever known), 175bhp (131kw) engine and electric rear window, folding heated mirrors and heated screenwash.

Also, when I park mine next to 'Warrior' or 'Barbarian' spec (long bed) 'L200's' at the dealership, mine is noticeably around an inch higher, with more ground clearance, on stock tyres. Mate is a tech at the dealership and tells me that the 'trojan' model is aimed at horse owners, and keeps the shorter bed for easier horse box maneuvering in tight yards etc

There's pics of mine in my intro thread. http://www.newtriton.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=13441

I'm guessing there will be an all new model to meet the 5 star safety rating, otherwise there is a heck of a lot of aussie mine business that will disappear as of next year, the current ones are only 4 star even with the my13's epic number of airbags, I think a full redesign would be required for the 5

Yep, I agree! It's the higher-powered 2.5 DID, but certainly on the older model L200's, the lower powered motor was understressed but still did the job. She goes like a train, but I'll admit that long-term reliability is a slight worry. I'd prefer a 3.2.

When I was looking at trucks before buying the Trojan, I took out a new 3.2 Ford Ranger... it was a beast, no doubt, pulled like crazy and looked the bollocks, but it wasn't as well made as I'd have hoped. I actually had the seat adjuster come off in my hand within seconds of climbing in the cab, and there was a pool of water on the passenger side footwell mat. The shut lines and plastic trim were just nowhere near as tidy as in the Mitsi. HiLux was nice, but there was a 10 week backlog on ordering one, and I still preferred the Mitsubishi. I've never liked later model Navaras... I had an earlier version and loved that.
