Cheap Tritons??

Postby Mantis on Wed Mar 19, 2008 9:26 am

Hey guys, was just on the pickles site and found a couple of Tritons about to go to Auction that are all repairable write offs due to hail damage, pretty sure there was two GLXR's with only 20km's on the odo, thats not 20000km's, it's only 20km's!!!!! There is also a VR with similar km's there, could go for a good price, and looking at the pics I've seen worse hail affected vehicles repaired, so dunno, for anyone interested, could be worth it..

Nice find Shane!!I don't want another Triton, but I see a brand-new VRX Pajero I'd like - I wonder what that will sell for :-)

(yes the XT is up for sale, I will no-longer be subi-man, might have to change my forum username!)

Unfortunately you'll usually find that cars like this aren't worth buying unless you're a panel beater and can fix and flip them quickly and cheaply.

Generally they sell so high that the final cost for anyone outside the industry is left with a repaired write off for a few $k less than buying a good one and try selling it!

I agree with you there AB - I see some undamaged Pajero's in WA , with around 10,000km on them, will watch those and see what they sell for as a matter of interest...

OT: sjp it's time to get something more suited to our family (ie. 4wd, 7 seater diesel etc). the XT will be sold privately as I don't expect to get a decent offer for a trade for such a highly modified car :( Know anyone on the market for one? ;)

Cheers

If Anyone is "really" interested I can find out more about the vehicles, including pics and specs (confirm if any of the others have difflocks)

I may even be able to find out the reserve ;)

Out of curiosity I'd like to know the reserve.

Chances are I wouldn't be buying though so don't go to too much trouble ;)

Cheers.

Well they sold:
Price for a glx-r manual diesel (guessing with difflock) sold for $31,000 (this was an 11/07)

There were quite a few Pajeros sold
eg: NS vr-x diesel auto $40,500 (10/07)
this was the cheepest of the pajeros (mayby they didn't like the colour)8-)

They expected higher prices but there has been a flood of vehicle on the marketplace and these are nearing the end of the damaged vehicles available.
i.e. most who wanted a damaged vehicle already have one ;)
