Clearest images I've seen so far.

Any chance of posting some mechanical specs? Mainly axle and gear ratios? Auto and manual? Struggling to find anything, even on overseas models

Sorry these pictures were posted on a pajero Facebook page I watch.

Looking at pic of engine and auto and it all looks pretty 'wrapped' up in plumping and electrics - will be nightmare for any roadside maintenance in the bush.

Will be interesting to see the spec on the six speed manual and possible future transplant into ml.

One of the pics had 'flywheel' as part of the label sitting on the auto. Could this be an integrated starter/alternator for stop/start and keyless starting?

The moved engine spec seems an improvement, 180 HP 430nm.

However the alternator is still too low - would have been better to swap location of alternator and steering pump.
Don't let the b'strds get you down!!

yes GLR,
the ML and to a lesser point the MN at the time very different from the rest of the market, this model looks to me as a slap together we cant think of anything so lets copy the market type of vehicle.
i do think MM could have done better to beat the opposition :x

so they better get the pricing right ;)

I like the look of them. But I also like the look of he dmax.
At least it looks like they've done something about the departure angle compared to the mn.
The tub is too long for 4wding but the tradies will love it.
I can't wait to see one decked out with bar work.

so overall cabin size remains the same

driver gets more room (maybe- or just bigger doors)

at the expense of the rear passengers

which was one of the "big" reasons I bought my triton- rear passenger room/ comfort

need to see and sit in one, I guess

although the engine dosn' excite me into an upgrade :(

If only they released it with the VGT 3.2 out of the Pajero I'd order one tomorrow!

Yep they made a mistake with the engine. Pajero's VGT 3.2 is awesome.

I do not mind how it looks. Same as the navara, but not ugly by any means.

Has mits australia released any dates yet? :? Anyone PM MMAL??

Looks like they have done a factory tub chop to make the departure angle better when you look at those pics with the line through them so thats cool 8-)

I dont think the triton will ever get the Paj engine, the Paj's are nearly twice the price though I think there is a market for a premium dual cab ute (I want a range rover sport with the v8 in a ute  )

All the photos of the new model are dull lifeless colours. Also if you check the Mitsubishi Thailand website for the new Triton the colour selection is crap. It seems all the baby poo browns and greens are popular now. There are videos on YouTube of test drives of the new model that are more traditional colours....blue, red etc. I hope Mitsubishi Australia are bold enough to bring in some colourful ones.

Hmm...so I have found the specs for manual driveline and gear ratios, good news and bad...

Good news is low range is now 2.566 reduction compared to current 1.9, a roughly 35% reduction. YAY!

Bad news is the final drive ratio and manual gearbox, diff ratio is now 3.692 compared to current 3.917 (in 4wd dualcabs), which is about 5% longer :(

Also, gearbox ratios multiplied by diff ratios show an interesting pattern, the new one will be longer geared in every gear. So if your current MN struggles off the line with a trailer and 32'/33's, it's gonna get worse with the new one.
MN ratios: 1st-16.8, 2nd 9.12, 3rd 5.62, 4th 3.92, 5th 3.08
New ratios: 1st 15.8, 2nd 8.48, 3rd 5.3, 4th 3.69, 5th 2.87, 6th 2.4

Really long geared :(

Verdict, new one slightly better geared off road (due to low range reduction) but worse on road.

Here's hoping I can keep my current diffs and swap them over! Or the new engine pulls hard from around 1200rpm....

The auto uses the 3.917 diff and only very minor gearbox ratio changes, so with the better low range looks like the one to go for.
