NZ have posted up the spec sheet for the new triton
6 speed manual
low range ratio is up- now at 2.5- yeah......

rear axle ratio looks a bit   but should be alright with the 6 speed manual (3.6) or 5 speed auto (3.9)

all models have the full electronic safety features including driver aids- hopefully they disconnect in low range

steering wheel tilt and telescopic adjustable

same shitty narrow tyres, I'll be asking about that for sure

all models seat height adjustment

all wellback models rear reverse camera

sign of things to come anyway, seems like a lot of the criticisms have been addressed

will also be asking about the rear diff lock standard on the low spec model, but not available as an option

hope there are a couple of changes for our market

oh and I'll get on my gearing calculator and check out how this equates to our current ML and MN models

nice improvement in low range gearing

In fact comparing to snowmans ML with golden cogs and 4 speed auto, this new triton with 5 speed auto has the same final crawl ratio :D :D

manuals are a bit different, but still lower than anything available previously

Two pics stolen from Facebook last night, one of which is apparently a shipment of new tritons in Brisbane.

I can see this grille being more popular than the silver one.

Plasti-dip to the rescue. God knows plenty of current model tritons have had the matte black treatment...

Also looking like there's no need to do a bumper chop when fitting a front bar. :-)

Glimps of the intercooler in NZ clip looks like it now crosses all the way across the grill opening, similar to fordzda, dmax, etc.

Hey 26, it's great news on the gearing front, even know I don't truly understand the table.
do you know how it compares to the likes of ranger/ bt50?

never looked to be honest

BUT

70 series cruiser/ patrol have a low low ratio of around 50

current hilux manual is around the same as the new triton manual 40

this is only for the low low and in the past has been a big problem with people complaining about the engine running away (no engine braking) on steep descents, made worse when upsizing tyres

also creates problems when wheeling riding the clutch in the rocks, and "control" while winching

Had already posted previous current Mn ratios compared to the new Triton, for comparison 1st in the Ranger/BT50 are for the manual 19.31 and auto 15.56 (MN is 16.8 man and 14.8 auto 5 speeds, new Triton 15.8 man and 13.78 auto). Low range for Ranger/BT50 is 52.48 and auto 42.27 (compared to 32.1 MN man and 28.2 MN auto, 43.0 man and 35.38 auto new Triton), so a fair bit lower. Definitely new Triton has a better low range than in the MN, but high range 1st gearing is all quite longer, especially with the 6 speed manual due to 3.6 diff gearing :(

From what I have already seen, you are correct. Most have removed the bumper. 8-) Does look a bit unusual as sweeps up slightly but grows on you.

I doubt it. More likely we'll see designs like this:

Perhaps combination of both.

Been talking to our local guys and most believe they will follow this concept.

Looks weird on the ends but grows on you.

An advantage also maybe if you wanted to readily return to stock. I'd think we will see both types on the market.

When I read about electric vehicles I start to hope that a triton could get some of that magic in a few years. The torque figures from the tesla are stunning ( as is the $167k price ).
This model, the P85D, is the company’s exuberant drag bot, with two mighty AC induction motors, producing together 515kW and 931Nm of torque, bonging electrons from an 85kW/h battery pack.
The Model S doesn’t have driveline tunnels, prop shafts or torque tubes. Not even the new all-wheel-drive models, because there are two traction motors, one fore and one aft. The floor pan is as flat as a sheet of plywood and about the same size.
