Airconditioning Thermo Fan connector

Had a look at my 07 GLX-R Auto 3.2 and it has the connector that Quinny has. The one that is on the skinny wire. I had a good look and couldn't see any other connector of that side?

Surely you could install an after market thermo fan to that connector, via a relay, to do away with the god awful clutch fan.
ESP if the ECU is switching it off and on ;)

Only works when the aircon is on via this plug.

Put mine in tonight. Easiest mod ever. Plug was taped up in just the right spot. Relay plugged straight in.

Fired up the aircon and away it went :D :D

2009 MN GLXR auto.

Thanks Lee for the package...

I'm curious though. On the underside of the fuse cover there are 3 fan icons in a row and now two of the slots (the front two) are used. What was the third fan for?

I have done away with the roaring viscous fan and replaced with a 16" thermo fan.

So far I am not convinced it is the best option.

I have a Scangauge now and the temps surprise me a bit. Up to 98 deg at the recent Beachport trip up some of those full throttle dunes......It did cool down quickly after though so maybe it was the same before the Scangauge, I don't know.

I may put the old roarer back on at some stage to compare temps.....

Have a look at grafting some fans off a au falcon salt.
cheap as chips too around 100bucks new.
Twin fans in a cowling, just got to cut the cowling to fit, have done this on a few v8 and dattos
Don't know how it would go on the tri but the capacity is there.

I asked the same question as CD did above to Tuff Troop after we'd installed mine. He thought that the other fan relay location was for the V6 thermo fan?

Hey salt, to answer your uncertainty about the thermo fan the viscous fan is more efficient than a large thermo ,sounds odd but true and a lot of that comes down to the Cowling. If the Cowling is not dragging air across the width of the radiator it will only cool what is in front of the fan which is approx 50% of the radiator surface which is why you may be getting a hotter reading off the scangauge .i agree that they are noisy and rob the engine of power but the manufacturers use them for certain applications for a good reason

SO, anyone that has the connector as shown in post 1 can fit a Thermo fan and relay in and it will operate when the air con compressor clutch is engaged.

FAN number MN123607 New Triton Club Price $253.08 + Tax
Relay p/n MR588567 $19.80 + Tax

couple of weeks to get them from Japan.

Yes I assumed this when I installed it, an 18" thermo installed into the original cowling would be a better option.......

Salt I use au thermo fans in all of my burnout / slide cars and they keep the cooling system very very low temps, very worth while we also put some on a mates gq patrol with a v8 Vn motor and it kept it real cool!

What type of switching was used Scott? How was the probe installed in the system?

How and where? I've got an inline-adaptor for a temp sensor so I can set up a thermo fan, but need to know where best to install it so I get the right temps, and what temp I should be getting the fans to come on and turn off.

Alrighty, so now need to source a thermo switch for around 92-95degrees. Next issue, where do I mount the new switch? As I said, I can get a spare radiator hose without too much hassle, just need to know whether to get the top or bottom hose to put the sensor into... :?

Once that's done, the rest is pretty simple it seems :D

Why are you not just using the genuine item discussed above?

Or are you replacing the original cooling with this?
