No, not the intercooler BUT (heading a little off topic) why not look for a fan which pulls the air instead of pushing it....my intercooler doesn't have room in front of it due to the winch but there is plenty of room behind it from memory ;)

Turn the fan around. Instant pull

Last time I looked the was a support rail behind inter cooler which didn't leave much room , but I did notice the air con was cooler standing still with fan on .

Same setup as the 3.2 Pajero too :D

I might just steal the one of Mrs Alco's car and stick it on the Triton ;)
That will be cheap
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything important, it's too late to stop reading it.

Might need to swap the connections around if you do this. Otherwise you'll be pulling (or pushing) air forward, depending on whether you turned around the fan body or the blades.

Depending on how this runs you'd have to be careful whilst the fan is running and you intend on deep water crossings. I've used big thermo's in the past and had to operate off a toggle switch so it can be switched off in these situation's ;)

Had the same issue in my 80 model hilux running a very warmed over 18RG, 2 litre. Destroyed my radiator when the thermo was sucked into it by the water.

You should be stopping and letting everything cool off first so this should not be an issue. In theory.

I bought two 10inch fans for the AC and Intercooler - project to be started.

One thing I've noticed is a significant gap between the condensor and radiator allowing a bit of potential cooling air to leak past the condensor. I'm thinking about moving the condensor back a bit (making more room for fan) and possibly sealing it around the edge to the radiator to force more air through it.

I've also wondered whether the mystery plug might be for fan.

Well after extensive and exhasuting testing,

Well not really, I can confirm that fitting a Relay and the thermo fan to an MN triton (I need to find an ML to test yet) will make it fully operational, NOTE it is only operational while the air con compressor is engaged and running, so if your air con is not on, neither is the fan.

I will find an ML in the coming days and test that also.

Cheers Lee

It didn't stop running! Just preventative maintenance.

Homer.. the petrol would be missing that plug.. naturally. Any fan you put in it will have to be run by a cable.. or gerbil.

This was all started from spotting it on a petrol model, most of the Diesel's probably can't see the plug as its covered in OIL.....
