DP Chip and ECU light

Postby tassietriton on Fri Sep 12, 2008 6:56 pm

Hey all,
Apologies for a second post on the same issue.
Has anyone with a DP Chip had the ECU light (the yellow engine shaped light on the tacho dial) come in at high speed?
Mine has come on twice now.
Both times the light came on (at 110klm+), I pulled over and the engine cut out. Both times it retstarted fine and the engine ran as normal but the light stayed on. The first time the light went off after 10 minutes, the second time after a much longer time.
My chip is set at 8.
I rang DP today and was told that the engine was "getting too much power" and that's why the light came on.
They recommended that I turn it doemn to 5 for a bit and then up to 6.
Anyone had similar problems?

the best way to figure out exactly what the problem is, is to get it obd 2 checked. just the scanner shouldnt cost much at all, it takes less than 10mintues to do. write the code down on paper and then check on google what the error code means.

they are several reasons, btw do you have the stock intake?

FreestyleCab with his salesman hat on again

Buy a ScanGaugeII off me.
It reads trouble codes and clears them as well.

well that is one error code you dont have to worry about, an aftermarket coldair intake, if it has super highflow ratings (the pod filter) the engine will ready it as to much airflow and cuts slightly and engine light pops up.

as for the chips, the standard ecu for the triton is really a bitch to deal with..... thus if any of the sensor reading seem ofthe chart it will cut..... but just to be on the safe side you should just get the obd 2 check.....

Freestylecab..... how much do you sell the scanner for? btw does your product clear all codes??? and does it give a light description of the error code or is it just the code itself is displayed.....
