Yeah for the most part that's right. The problem with the scangauge is you have to choose 4 items and that's it. Mine is mounted above the mirror and I tend to find if I'm driving it takes a bit too long for poor eyes to refocus and read the data. With the ultragauge you can have up to 8 readouts on the one screen and they are bigger and easier to see. You can also set alarms like coolant temp or whatever so it pops up with a warning for you. I've gone with 6 readouts at the moment and have been using the obd speed readout as it's more accurate than the speedo.
I had the scangauge before the ultragauge really became known and have only recently bought the ultra so I'm still tinkering with it. So far the main downside of the ultragauge is that it's got an aqua/blue kind of readout and everything else on my dash is red so that kind of irritates. Sooner or later I will likely tear it apart and ruin it trying to change that.
I may eventually sell the scangauge or chuck it or something but for now it just sits above the mirror as a backup if I ever need it. It's a bit quicker to clear codes with too so it's handy for that.
