Lack of auxilliary input in oem headunit

Lack of auxilliary input in oem headunit

Postby Greedy on Mon Sep 22, 2008 8:40 pm

Was running audio from car PC through the aux input of the standard headunit. Now it has just stopped for some reason. When the volume is increased, you get slight feedback (noise) but no audio. Currently, I don't have access to any PC speakers to test the PC but am working on this. I'm not too technically minded with audio equipment  so just wondering if there is any way to test the aux. input on the head unit.
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal labotomy!

It ain't pretty being easy!!

That seemed to work. Pulled out the old fishing tranny which works a treat on the aux input which means the on board sound of the PC is the issue. Can't believe I couldn't think of that check. Must be getting old!!
Cheers

Well, it seems the on board sound is kaput so a new motherboard is on the way.

id try reinstalling drivers before ditching the mobo- or if youve got the room put a soundcard in it

Capitalisation (n), is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.

I would be very surprised if an onboard sound card failed and everything else is working fine, unless you have damaged the jack connector. Like has been said I would point towards a software problem.

I'll try to source the drivers then. A new motherboard is on the way so will be swapped over anyway. The new one is faster and also comes with the drivers unlike the first one I got. The old one will end up being some sort of home server
